CHAPTER 39 Frost raised a fist and gave a gentle rap on the door of Frank’s office. Floorboards creaked beneath him as he shifted from foot to foot, waiting for someone to answer his knock, wondering how to make the best use of his time while the chief was off catching bad guys. The door opened and the hospital smell of rubbing alcohol greeted him. A tired-looking blonde woman with a stethoscope draped over her shoulders peered at him over half-rim glasses, her lips pursed in an expression Frost wasn’t sure how to interpret.
