Dart Rosedale stood in the dark with his back against the padlocked door. His heart raced in his chest and feelings of rapture flooded through every part of him. He’d done it. His trap had worked.
Maddie was his now.
For months, he’d been planning and preparing for this, but he’d believed the fulfillment of his fantasy was still weeks down the road. And then Rainier exploded, paving the way. He’d be a fool not to recognize the nod from the volcano god.
He’d told Maddie the phone call was from his mother, but that wasn’t true. His boss from the feed store, Mr. Hoskins, had called with the news of the eruption.
