Chapter Fifteen

1851 Words
Xander POV Another restless night of nothing but darkness and the sounds of Mia’s screams led to another run through the woods. I’d decided to skip the training session the wolves had every morning and opted for a fly before my run. The wind against my scales usually helped clear my mind. But I guess that had been before I’d found my mate. She seemed to control every thought I had, even if I didn’t want to be thinking of her. Not even running was helping me anymore, the frustration building within. Needing a hot shower I turned back in the direction of the pack house. Breaking through the tree line I watched as one of the men approached me, and he did not look to pleased. After a week of being here, I’d learnt the mans name was Luca. My mates twin. I watched cautiously as he approached, his eyes darkening as his wolf pushed forward. “You!” He growled, his hands shoving against my chest, making Draco perk to attention at the signs of a fight. I just gazed at him with a bored expression, waiting to gauge the situation first before I reacted. “What’s your problem? Why are you hurting my sister like this?” Ah, of course it is to do with my mate. I muse in my head as I shake my head. “I am not doing anything to your sister. Now, if you’ll excuse me.” I go to step by him, but he stops me with a hand on my chest. My eyes sting as they glow and I glance from his hand to him, a look of warning on my face. Before I could vocalise it however a piercing scream ripped through the afternoon air and Luca seemed to wince as though in pain before his eyes shoot towards the pack house. “Mia.” I hear him whisper in worry before he takes off at a run. Another scream has me shifting in seconds and flying towards the sound. I knew I’d be able to reach her faster with flight. I reach the balcony of her office to find her lying on one of the outdoor lounges, her brows scrunched, chest heaving with laboured breath and her hands clutching at the cushions. The fabric of the cushions began to tear as her claws extended and I stepped towards her. With my hands on her shoulders I gave her a gentle shake to wake her. Her eyes flew open at my touch, their usual emerald green covered completely with a crimson red. Before words can even leave my mouth, I’m pulled from her and slammed against the bannister of the balcony, and the familiar red eyes of the vampire connect with mine. His teeth extend with a hiss as his hands bunch in my shirt. I smirk at his protectiveness. “Haven’t we been here before, leech. I warned you last time what would happen.” My eyes begin to glow as scales appear around my eyes. “Viktor, enough.” His eyes shift to Mia before he releases his hold on me, and I straighten up my shirt, my gaze falling on Mia. Her arms are crossed over her chest protectively, her eyes avoiding mine. “I’m fine Viktor, it was just a bad dream. Xander was just waking me from it.” Viktor looked uncertainly at her. “Are you sure, little one?” he asks as he places a finger beneath her chin, raising her eyes to his. Draco isn’t too pleased at the familiarity that the vampire is showing to our mate, but I shut him up and shove him to the back of my mind. There was no point in being jealous, I could not be with her, she was fair game. “I’m sure, Viktor. Really, I’m fine.” With one last once over Viktor gives a nod, and after glaring at me, he turns to leave as Luca enters. His eyes fall on me as a growl rips through his chest and I’m once again pressed against the bannister. I was getting really tired of this. I roll my eyes, causing another growl to come from Luca. “Luca! For Goddess sakes!” Mia appears beside us, her hands grabbing at Luca’s to pull him away from me, and as I straighten to fix up my shirt once again, she presses her small hands to his chest and shoves him back. “You promised.” She hissed at him, and I watched with curiosity at the exchange. He’d promised her what? I was very intrigued his eyes glared past her at me and I couldn’t help the teasing smirk that stretched my lips. Mia’s hands on his chest again, she held him back as he stepped towards me again. I could take him, but it was amusing to watch this big bad wolf being held back by a 5’4 female. “He hurt you.” He gritted through his teeth; his fists balled at his sides. Mia gave an exasperated sigh as she tried to pull his attention back to her. “Luca.” When he didn’t look at her, her palm connected with his cheek. Luca’s eyes turned to her, wide like saucers, as he clutched at his cheek. “What the hell, Mia?!” he exclaimed. “You weren’t listening to me! You promised, and you broke that promise. I don’t even want to talk to you right now. Now that you know I’m ok, I need you to leave.” Luca’s eyes filled with hurt as he reached for Mia, but she stepped from him and pointed towards the door. “Luca, please.” With one last glare at me he was gone, his shoulders tense as he walked. Silence took over the space as Mia and I watched the door he’d just left from. After a few more moments of silence her eyes turned to me, their emerald colour making something in me twinge. I had to get Nimue to agree to leave before I did something stupid, like decide to stay. She crossed her arms protectively around herself, the action pushing her breasts up. It was taking everything in me not to take her in my arms and claim her. But I couldn’t. After a few moments she broke the awkward silence. “I better get back to work. Excuse me.” She turned from me and grabbed the paperwork sitting on the table in front of the outdoor lounge, the act giving me a decent view of her voluptuous backside. Why was she making this so difficult? I followed her into the office, and she turned to me with a sigh when I didn’t leave. “Is there something I can help you with?” Her attitude was oddly arousing to me and it didn’t help that her tank top was clinging tightly to her breasts as she crossed her arms beneath them. I decided then I’d allow myself one moment of weakness before I gave her up forever. I stalked towards her, causing her to back up against the desk. “There is one thing you can help me with, but first...” my hand went to the back of her head and I pulled her lips to mine in a hot searing kiss. Gods her lips felt so good against mine. A soft whimper escaped her lips as I swooped my tongue across them, and she opened without hesitation. Her arms slid across my shoulders, pulling me closer to her and I obliged by stepping closer and pushing her into the desk while my tongue dipped into her mouth fighting with hers for dominance. My hands slid down her body till I reached her plump ass and I lifted her till she was sitting atop the desk. I pushed her legs apart and stood between them as I continued to ravish her mouth with mine. Her nails dragged down my back as I pressed her into my hard on and a soft moan was captured by our passionate kisses. I was losing myself in the moment and I didn’t even care, she felt so good. Why did I have to give her up again? And then the realisation hit me. Because if I stayed, she would be in danger. Allowing myself one more kiss I pulled back and stepped from her, my hands shaking with the control it took to do so. It didn’t help that her skirt had ridden up in our passionate make out session and I could see the peek of lace beneath, and her hair was mussed sexily whilst her lips were plump and red. Her eyes went wide as she realised what had just happened and her eyes filled with tears causing my heart to tear in two. She covered her mouth as she jumped off the desk to straighten out her outfit, visibly holding in the sobs. “Why are you torturing me like this?! What do you want from me, Xander?” her voice was soft, broken almost, and the sound of it makes me sick to my stomach. I have to do this, for her. “I want to go home.” I replied as I took another step back to put some distance between us. “Then go. I’m not stopping you.” She leant against the desk, seemingly defeated. I felt like s**t and all I wanted to do was pull her into my arms and take away her pain. But this couldn’t happen. I once again shoved down those feelings and stare into her eyes. “No, but Nimue won’t leave, and I can’t leave without her. I would never hear the end of it from our father.” Her eyes fell to the ground, tears on the edge of falling. “Well if that’s what it takes, fine. I’ll talk to Nimue.” I didn’t hear the words at first, and when they finally registered, I wasn’t sure if that was what I wanted anymore. Shaking my head mentally, I nodded in recognition and made my way for the door, only stopping once to look over my shoulder at Mia. She stood still where I left her, her arms wrapped around herself, and I left her like that, heading towards my room to pack. *** Author Note Hi guys! I hope you are enjoying this book so far!
