Chapter 41 - Unexpected visitor

Teira's POV
I walked towards the table cautiously, Kyle smiled as I went to sit next to him, but Matt stopped me. "Treasure, you're over here." he said gently with a nod to my brother. I let him lead me to the open seat between him and Tyler and glanced at Kyle nervously, Kyle? What's going on? I asked over the link as I sat down.
Before he could answer, Matt whispered, "Don't worry." I looked at him curiously but started to fill my plate. The Luna wrinkled her nose at my plate but turned to the girl sweetly, "Sarah, this is Teira. She's a good friend of the boys. Teira, this is Sarah Maddox. She's a childhood playmate of the boys from Moon Valley." I looked at her and smiled gently before turning to the Luna, "Nice to meet you, Sarah, but I need to correct the Luna on one thing. I'm the triplet's girlfriend, not a friend." I said, staring straight at the Luna.
She frowned then waved her hand in dismissal of my words but I noticed Sarah ducked her head at my statement, it sounded like she was laughing but I couldn't be sure as she covered her mouth with her hand and tried to hide it behind a cough, "Yes well, we all know those type of relationships don't last. But, to keep the peace, we'll agree on that." the Luna stated, and Sarah looked at her suspiciously from the corner of her eye. "Now Luna, not everyone has the same view as you when it comes to relationships. According to my Dad, you had quite a few boyfriends as well when you were in school." she said before turning back to me, "It's nice to meet you as well, Teira. I've heard a lot about you from the guys." she said as she began to eat.
I looked at her curiously as the Luna flushed angrily. Was what Val said true? Was Sarah one of those girls that wasn't interested in a chosen mate? I glanced at the boys who looked away sheepishly, "Oh? I'm sure they exaggerated. Anyway, what brings you to Dark Moon?" I asked quietly. She smiled, then looked at the Luna, "Pack business. My father's the Beta of Moon Valley and asked me to make a visit to see how things were going." she said carefully, and I nodded.
The Luna coughed gently and stood up, "I have some business to go over, but Sarah, I hope to see you at dinner this evening. Boys have a good outing." she said as she left. A jolt of shock went through me. Outing? Were Tyler and Ryan taking Sarah out? I looked down at my plate, clenching my hands into fists in my lap. When would the Luna get it through her head that the triplets were taken?!
Tyler placed his hand gently over my fist as Matt rubbed my back gently, "It's not what you think, princess, don't worry." Tyler whispered as he brought my hand to his lips. Sarah glanced at the doorway before gagging, "Can you please not do that in public?! The rest of us are trying to eat now that the Wicked Witch is gone." she said bluntly as she stabbed the sausage on her plate. I blinked at her, "Wicked Witch?" I asked curiously. She smiled, "It's the nickname the girls at the pack gave Luna Megan. She acts all sweet and nice to you unless you show genuine interest in the triplets, then you aren't good enough." she said as she ate.
I smiled and Kyle moved closer to join in the conversation, "Tei, Sarah is actually just a childhood friend of the guys but because she's the daughter of the Beta, she thinks she'll make a good mate for the Alphas." he explained. "Despite our opinion on the matter." Ryan grumbled, and Sarah glared, "You guys aren't my first choice either. I want to actually wait for my mate instead of being mated by alliance, and my parents agree with my choice. I'm honestly just here as a favor to get the witch to back off." she said bluntly.
I blinked, then smiled, "So instead of the Luna nagging Tyler and Ryan about meeting another girl while I'm out with Matt. You'll be hanging out with them so the Luna will stay off their backs." I said. She nodded, "It's not something I'd want to spend my day doing, but the boys are friends, and having them in my debt is a bonus." she said, smirking. The triplets glared at her, but I chuckled, I liked this girl.
Matt stood and helped me to my feet, Tyler and Ryan did the same as I hugged Kyle. Since the triplets had been handling some of the Alpha's duties, my brother was in charge of the training of the warriors, so we hadn't seen each other much the last few days except for meals. I was planning to go back to training with him after the trial as I still wanted to figure out what happened when Tyler and Matt fought in David's secret office.
Tyler kissed me soundly on the mouth as I broke away from Kyle, followed by Ryan, causing a double retching sound to come from my brother and Sarah. I just smiled cheekily, "Just wait, I'm sure I'll feel the same way when you find someone." I said, sticking my tongue out. Kyle laughed, "I'm counting on it, Tei, but please, for my sanity, don't do that in public. It's weird watching my little sister makeout with my best friends." he grimaced. Sarah just walked past us into the hallway, "It's weird for people who aren't related as well." she said.
I heard a growl and looked at Tyler. He was glaring at Sarah's retreating figure angrily. "Something wrong?" I asked, and he turned towards me, shaking his head. "No princess, nothing's wrong. I just don't get along with Sarah much, that's all." he said gently as he kissed my forehead. I c****d my head at him, but he just smiled and left me with Matt following Sarah and Ryan.
Matt grabbed my hand and gently pulled me down the hall and outside. He leaned me against his car and kissed me gently, "I didn't get to tell you before because of Mom and Sarah, but you look stunning today, treasure. Are you ready for our date?" he asked as he pulled away and opened my door for me. I smiled and got in, "Of course, is there any chance you'll tell me where we're headed?" I asked, and he smirked, "Not a chance, treasure." he said as he closed the door.
I huffed, surprises were fun sometimes but a lot of times they weren't good in my experience. I knew the triplets wouldn't hurt me, but that still didn't mean I liked not knowing where we were going. Matt got in the driver's seat and pulled away, then glanced at my pouting face, "Relax treasure, you'll love where we're going. Have a little faith." he murmured as he kissed the back of my hand. I sighed, "I have complete faith in you, I just don't like surprises all that much." I said gently.
Matt smiled, "I know, that's why we're trying to change that. Look out the window." he said, and I glanced at the scenery and gasped. We were slowly driving through broad street, it was the pride and joy of our pack. Historic brick buildings swept up and down both sides of the street. The window displays were brightly lit and decorated in various Christmas scenes. I had never been allowed to come down this way as there were too many pack members who knew my parents, but I had always wanted to visit. Not just because of what the kids at school said about it but because of the history museum.
I loved history. It was one of my favorite subjects in school. I tried to learn everything I could about the history of our species as well as human history, so if I ever escaped the pack, I could blend in pretty well with the humans. I had never thought I'd actually get to see this area. I turned to Matt, beaming excitedly, "This is amazing!" I said in awe. He chuckled, "I thought you'd like it, but this isn't all. Just be patient a little bit longer." he said as we went around a curve.
I gasped as I saw the massive brick building in front of us and squealed dancing excitedly in my seat as Matt pulled into the parking lot. "I can't believe this! How did you...? Oh my Goddess?!" I said, trying to put my words together. Matt chuckled, "I take it, you're pleased?" he asked. I nodded in awe as we got out of the car, and I just stared at the building before I threw myself into his arms and kissed him soundly on the mouth.
The sign on the building said 'The Dark Moon History Museum' with a sign beneath saying 'Dedicated to Teira Harris'
