Teira's POV
I froze in my seat, my body felt like stone. I could see Matt's mouth moving and him slowly handing the document to show me what he was saying was true.
I didn't take it, I just stared at him. I wasn't even sure I was breathing. Mom wasn't my mother?! Did Dad know? Obviously Kyle didn't, he was just as shocked as I was. Well, not that shocked, he was looking at Ryan and Matt with a dazed expression on his face but he took the piece of paper Matt was trying to hand me and looked over it.
"Princess?" a voice asked from the doorway. I didn't look, my mind was going several miles an hour and I couldn't begin to try and slow my swirling thoughts down to straighten them out.
"What'd you do?!" the voice asked hotly and Matt looked at me concerned, "I only told her what we found. She's Kyle's half-sister, and his mom isn't hers." he said sheepishly. The voice growled, "After what she just went through?! You spring this on her now?! She just got out of the hospital! Do you WANT to put her back in there?!" the voice said hotly as arms lifted me out of the chair gently.
"Tyler, I don't like it either but she needs to know before the trial. That lawyer's going to try and use every tactic imaginable to make her look like she deserved what they did. If she goes in there, unprepared, she'd be vulnerable." Ryan said blocking Tyler from taking me out of the room.
"Not to mention p*ssed at the fact that you guys knew and didn't tell her." Kyle muttered. Tyler growled still trying to sidestep Ryan but I managed to snap out of it and look up at him calmly, "Tyler, it's alright." I said shakily. He was carrying me bridal style and it was a bit embarrassing, he looked down at me then huffed, "Fine, but we're leaving if this gets to be too much." he said firmly walking back to the chair.
I stiffened, "I will decide if we leave or not, Tyler. You are NOT my guardian!" I said hotly wriggling to get out of his arms. He tightened his arms and glared at me, "Get this straight, princess. You just got out of the hospital with doctor's orders to rest. That means mentally as well as physically, and I will not allow my bone headed brothers drop a ton of information on you just to overwhelm you and put you back in the hospital. Understand?" he growled.
Two other growls came from the desk, Matt and Ryan were glaring at Tyler furiously, "You aren't the only one who cares about her, Tyler." Matt said sternly. Tyler smirked, "Oh really? You seemed to really care when she's having a panic attack and you're too busy talking to Kyle and going over those papers." he snarked.
Before I could blink, Tyler had handed me to Kyle and Matt had tackled him to the ground. Both were punching each other furiously while Kyle placed me behind him near the wall. Growls filled the room and Ryan was standing beside the door cautiously waiting for his brothers to stop trying to kill each other.
Aren't you going to stop them?! I linked him exasperated. He glanced at me shaking his head, Angel, I couldn't stop them even if I wanted to. Tyler's been pushing buttons lately, acting like your sole protector. He's not the only one who cares and Matt and I are tired of it. If it didn't happen here, it would've happened at training. Matt might seem level-headed but he's got a temper like the rest of us. They'll tire out in a minute. he explained.
I c****d my head at that, why would the triplets care about being my protector? I might've needed help but I wasn't weak. I growled and noticed the shadows around me growing a bit darker, that was odd, but I didn't think much of it. I managed to slip from behind Kyle, and grabbed a vase sitting on a side table. I pulled the flowers out of it and walked over to the two boys still wrestling on the floor.
When I threw the water over them, the room got brighter, Ryan was looking at me astonished, Kyle bewildered because I was no longer behind him but my gaze was directly on the very drenched boys gazing back at me in shock. I set the now empty vase down on the table and placed my hands on my hips glaring at them, "You two hotheads cooled down yet?" I snapped.
"Princess..." Tyler started.
"Treasure, he-" Matt began.
I held up my hand, "I will NOT tolerate you fighting over me. Understand? Tyler, I get that you are concerned but Matt's right. This is information I need to know, no matter how shocking it comes to me. I. Need. To. Know. Matt, Tyler is only concerned because you did drop a lot of information at once and didn't give me a chance to process it before continuing. I have loads of questions and I'll need to look this information over before I go talk to my Dad." I said seriously. Matt looked sheepish but Tyler looked stubborn.
Tyler stood up abruptly at that, followed by Matt and even Ryan stepped towards me, "ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!" they all yelled at the same time. I crossed my arms and leveled a glare at each of them, "This is not up to you!" I yelled back furiously, "He may have tried to kill me, but he's the ONLY one who can answer my questions about my mother and what happened to her!"
Ryan walked over to me, placing his hands on my hips, "Which is why, we will ask him. He's dangerous and you don't need to be around him or Isabelle until the trial. We will get the answers you need." he said earnestly. I stepped back, shaking my head, "Ryan, I appreciate you want to keep me safe, but all he'll likely do is deny or avoid the question. He hasn't mentioned my mom once in the 16 years I've been born, what makes you think he'll tell the future Alphas anything?" I replied gently.
He sighed and looked at his brothers, Matt was thinking about what I said, Tyler still looked stubborn but I could tell by his stance that he was giving in knowing I was right. When Matt looked up and nodded, Ryan looked at me reluctantly, "Fine, but we will go with you and Kyle. No arguments, we'll give you privacy but any type of threat to you and that's it. You will leave and let us handle it. Got it angel?" he asked. I nodded knowing I probably wouldn't get a better compromise from them.
The boys stood up and began to straighten the room, the chairs had been knocked over and a few papers had scattered to the ground. Kyle approached me cautiously still looking confused, "Tei? Can I talk to you for a minute?" he asked nodding towards the corner of the room.
I nodded and followed him over, glancing at the triplets to make sure they wouldn't start fighting again. Tyler and Matt were grumbling at each other but it didn't look like it'd come to blows on their part. I looked at my brother curiously, he was still wearing a dazed expression but it was mixed with a little more shock and confusion than anything, "What's up?" I asked confused. He shook his head, "How did you get to the other side of the room so fast? And without me knowing?" he asked. I looked at him bewildered, "What do you mean? I got angry at the boys fighting and just walked around you. It wasn't hard." I explained.
Kyle shook his head, "Tei, you're fast but not that fast. I was standing directly in front of you and keeping my senses trained to keep you safe from the fight. I never noticed you moved until you just appeared on the other side of the room, drenching Matt and Tyler with the water. That's not normal for a trained warrior, especially in a life or death situation." he said quietly. I looked at him shocked, it was true that Kyle was an excellent warrior, so he should have noticed me move but he didn't. So was it a fluke on Kyle's part or something more?
I looked at him seriously, "We'll talk about this more later, right now I need more answers about Dad. Maybe it was just a fluke." I said quietly. Kyle looked down seriously, "Yeah, maybe." he murmured and he followed me back over to the desk.
This time, Ryan was sitting behind the desk with Matt standing on one side of my chair and Tyler on the other. I sat and both placed their hands on each of my shoulders gently, taking a deep breath. It seemed to calm them and I didn't argue, anything to get rid of the tension in the room.
Ryan looked at me gently, "You ready to continue angel?" he asked and I nodded. Kyle sat in the chair beside me and handed me the certificate that Matt had tried to show me earlier. It was a simple piece of paper, listing my name, gender, date of birth which shocked me that Dad hadn't lied about that at least, and my parents' names.
Melinda Sutton. That's what my true mom's name was. It listed her birthday and age as well, she had been twenty three when she had me. I wondered if she gave birth to me alone or if Dad had been there. Probably not since he didn't seem to want me around much. I wondered what she looked like and why she had left me here. Did something happen to her?
"We found some letters between David and Isabelle, as well as a stack of returned letters with your Mom's name on them. It seemed that they met not long after David and Isabelle married, from the way it sounds, they were chosen mates, not fated. David met Melinda who was his fated and fell in love, at least enough to try and stay with her." Ryan explained.
Kyle stiffened, I squeezed his hand gently. I hoped he didn't hate me, his parents relationship was almost split up because Dad didn't want to wait for his fated mate. And then my Mom appeared and Kyle almost wasn't born. He looked at me, pain, anger, but none of it was directed at me. There was nothing accusatory in his eyes which eased the knot in my chest.
"So what happened?" Kyle asked after a minute, squeezing my hand back in reassurance. Ryan shuffled to the last two letters frowning, "That's the confusing part. It seems that Isabelle gave David an ultimatum, either her and their unborn child, or Melinda. And when David tried to reach out to Melinda about it, she disappeared. Then finally you were sent in response to his last letter with this note." he finished setting down the note on the desk in front of us.
