Teira's POV
I didn't remember much after the kiss with Ryan. I remembered heading back to the car and Ryan buckling me in, then being carried into the packhouse.
The Luna had been waiting and glared at us as Ryan walked in, "What is the meaning of this?!" she asked furiously. I peeked at her from my eyelashes as I was too tired to open them all the way; her face was red with anger, her hands were on her hips, and her foot was tapping. Actually, tapping on the floor angrily.
She looked like she hadn't even gone to bed yet, she was still wearing the same clothes she had been this morning. I heard Ryan scoff and his grip on me tightened a bit, "Mom, I told you we had plans today. I gave Dad plenty of notice about me being out all day with Teira. What is your problem?" he asked angrily. I glanced at Ryan, his eyes were smoldering and I could tell he was holding back his wolf.
Footsteps sounded on the stairs and Tyler and Matt came and stood beside Ryan. The Luna growled angrily, "Don't speak to me that way, young man. I told you to go to the cafe to meet a visitor, and not only did I find out that you didn't do so, but you also were running around the market holding hands with that...that-" she cut off at the triplets growls.
"Watch it, Mom. Teira is our girlfriend, and we will NOT tolerate anyone insulting her." Tyler snapped furiously. The Luna growled intensely and I knew things were going to get out of hand. Despite her being a nasty person, she was still the Luna. I put my hand on Ryan's chest causing him to look down at me, Put me down. I linked. He frowned and tightened his grip for a moment before sighing and setting me down.
I smoothed out my skirt and stood straight, looking the Luna directly in the eyes, "I apologize Luna, it was my fault that Ryan neglected his duties today. I have never been to see the Christmas market and he thought it would be a good way for us to get to know each other and the pack as well. We got distracted and lost track of the time." I said seriously.
The triplets started to protest but I placed a hand on Tyler's shoulder and squeezed Ryan's hand behind me. If the Luna wanted to blame me, then let her. I wouldn't hide behind the triplets anymore. Luna Megan glared at me, her blue eyes turned to ice as she did, "Well, at least you admit to your fault in this." she huffed as she crossed her arms, "The problem is that the person I wanted my son to meet has been rudely stood up. I hope you'll make better choices come tomorrow." she said sniffing as she turned and headed up the stairs.
"Yes Luna, good evening," I replied as she disappeared. When she was out of earshot, I started to sag. I was tired, and the stress of dealing with someone so hostile was overwhelming. Matt caught me and held me against his chest, "Treasure, you don't have to do that. She was out of line and you and Ryan did nothing wrong." he said as he picked me up. I smiled tiredly at him, "Wrong or not, she's still the Luna. And will still be until you guys find your mate. Plus, I don't want to come between you." I yawned as he set me down on the bed.
Matt kissed me gently and I laid down quietly. Tyler grabbed a pair of my pajamas and set them next to me, "We'll let you get dressed." he said gruffly as they started to walk out. I don't know what came over me but I didn't wait for them to leave. I stripped right there on the bed, then pulled my pajamas on and curled up, much to the triplet's shocked faces. I snuggled under the blankets and looked at them curiously; they all blushed and fumbled out of the room, mumbling excuses. I giggled at their antics and lay there going over the day in my head.
The date was amazing, I couldn't believe Ryan wanted to travel that much. I loved seeing new places and things, and the Christmas market held so many amazing things; I definitely had to have Val go down there with me so I could get the boys' and Kyle's Christmas gifts. I looked at the charm bracelet on the nightstand, the charms glittered in the moonlight from the window. I couldn't believe Ryan did that. I had never gotten something so beautiful before.
My thoughts wandered to the person the Luna had wanted Ryan to meet, I knew it was probably another girl that she selected to become Luna but why didn't the girl come to meet us herself? She was supposedly waiting at the cafe and it was across the street from the market. She would have seen Ryan and me walking around.
I sighed and shook my head, these thoughts were just making me worry. I snuggled up to the boy's pillows and fell asleep, dreaming of the wonderful day we had today.
~*~*~*~
The next morning Tyler and Ryan headed down to breakfast after kissing me on the lips each. Matt smiled and brushed the hair from my face before kissing me deeply, "See you downstairs, treasure." he whispered as he pulled away. Val made a gagging sound, "Please go so I can doll your girlfriend up." she said as she pushed him out the door.
I laughed and then went into the shower like yesterday; when I came out, there was a pair of jeans, a cute dark blue long-sleeved shirt with snowflakes on it, and a pair of sneakers. Val smiled as she pulled me over to the vanity, "Tell me everything! I heard some of it from the triplets last night, but I want to hear it from you; how did your first date go?" she asked excitedly as she dried and brushed my hair. I smiled and recounted the date; Val squealed at certain moments, then looked at my charm bracelet in awe, "That's so adorable!" she squealed as she hugged me, and I blushed, "So we can definitely say date one was a success." she said as she started on my makeup.
I nodded but didn't say anything thinking about how the Luna acted when we got back, Val frowned and kneeled down putting the makeup brushes on the vanity, "What's wrong?" she asked. I looked at her, "I think the Luna hates me. Scratch that, I KNOW she hates me. She practically told me that I was not good enough for her sons. Maybe going out with the guys isn't a good idea." I said sadly.
"What?! Oh h*ll no! That woman is a terrible judge of character. She only thinks that the members of her old pack are worth anything, or her friends' children for that matter. I mean look at Whitley! Tei, you are ten, no a hundred times better than any of those girls and, to be honest, most of the girls in Moon Valley want to find their fated mates." Val ranted. I looked at her confused, "What do you mean? How do you know that?" I asked. Val sighed, "My dad made trips to the other packs sometimes and when he did, I went with him. It usually fell around the time the Luna was visiting Moon Valley with the Alphas. I watched as she practically pushed her sons into crowds of girls to see if they liked any of them. The Alphas tolerated it, mostly to keep their Mom happy but I could tell they weren't interested. And from the way most of the girls acted, they only wanted to be friends. I made friends with quite a few of them and heard them say they were waiting for their fated mate. I thought nothing of it at the time, at least until I overheard the Luna talking to my dad one night."
"I was supposed to be asleep, but I got thirsty, so I got up to get some water and passed by the door to my Dad's study. I heard voices and stopped, the Luna was ranting about how the pack laws were changing and something about a deal. Dad was telling her that she couldn't force the Alphas to take a chosen mate but she refused to listen. I went back to my room before she stormed out muttering under her breath about how she couldn't back out now." she finished explaining.
I looked at her a bit stunned, "Sounds like the Luna made a deal with someone. Did you ever ask your Dad about it later?" I asked. Val looked down and shook her head, "He died so I never got the chance. But, what I'm trying to say is that no matter who the Luna throws at the Alphas, they aren't interested and there's a good chance the girl isn't either." she said as she picked up the brushes and continued. I made a mental note to ask the triplets about it later tonight as I put my charm bracelet on and headed down to the dining hall, planning to enjoy my date with Matt today.
When I walked into the dining hall, I noticed the atmosphere was different; there was a bit of tension and a bit of disapproval coming from the pack members seated at different tables around the room. I followed their gazes to the head table and froze, the Luna was seated at the table with the triplets while Kyle had sat near the end and was trying not to growl.
Seated next to the Luna was a girl about my age with fiery red hair and fierce hazel eyes and she was glaring furiously at the triplets.
