Chapter 26 - Memories and some answers

1785 Words
Teira's POV I stepped onto the porch and pulled out my keys, taking deep breaths as a wave of anxiety rushed over me. I couldn't help it, everything had been moving too fast lately and I hadn't gotten a chance to think about any of it. I went from wolfless Omega loser, to friend of the Alpha triplets, to guest and recognized pack member of the Darkmoon pack, even though I already was one, to my parents abuse being exposed and Kyle and I moving to the packhouse with the triplets. Not to mention this weird attraction I was feeling towards each of them, it started when they first rescued me at school, but I chalked it up to being saved by friends and left it at that. Then, they wanted to help me learn to fight so I could defend myself, and then they actually saved me from my parents. Now my parents were in a cell, their trial happening in three weeks, after the holidays and the triplets were telling me they wanted to get to know me better. Like, they wanted to date me, even going so far as to help me and Kyle move our things to the packhouse. Well, more like Kyle's things. I didn't have a lot to move. I shook my head to clear my thoughts, I would need to think about these things later, as well as try to straighten out my own confusing feelings. I unlocked the door and walked inside, Matt and Tyler behind me, followed by Kyle and Ryan. The living room looked the same as it always had, dim and gloomy with a touch of decor here and there to make it look homey to try and disguise the atmosphere. Kyle looked around and huffed, "I never understood why Mom insisted on this room being decorated. We never used it." he said as we looked around. I shrugged and headed for the stairs, "Appearances probably, you know her and Dad wanted to get you in good with the Alpha so you could up their standing. That required people to come over, and if the first room they see is dismal and dull, or nasty, they might not want to walk further in or visit again." I said over my shoulder. The triplets flinched at the mention of what my parents' plan was but didn't say anything. Tyler followed behind me, and I turned and looked at them when we got to Kyle's floor. "I can grab my stuff. There's not much. Kyle will need more help than me anyway, so I'll be down in a bit." I said. Tyler grabbed my hand gently, "Are you sure? We can grab your stuff for you if need be." he said gently. I smiled, a playful smirk on my face, "Now Tyler, are you looking for an excuse to go through my undies?" I asked jokingly. Tyler looked at me, shocked for a second, then laughed, a blush creeping across his face, "Are you offering, princess?" he retorted, and I blushed too, then shook my head, "Nope, not happening. I'll be down in a bit." I called over my shoulder as I raced up the stairs, the boys' laughter following behind me. I opened my door and closed it gently, trying to calm my racing heart. What was wrong with me? I'm flirting with the triplets. Actually flirting! And the fact that despite Tyler angering before breakfast this morning, I'd wanted to kiss him! I never even dreamed of something like this because the plan was always to graduate, and Kyle would expose our parents once he got out of the house and took me with him. That was part of the reason he went along with what they did. He always said he'd get me out. Now that we had, I was flirting with boys! I shook my head. Clearly, freedom was making me go crazy. There was no way Ryan, Matt, and Tyler would want me. I was a good friend and special to them, but they would never want to date me. There were much prettier girls than me at school, and they all didn't act like Whitley. Plus, I couldn't even get myself out of my situation with my parents. What made me think anyone would want me as their Luna? I sighed, glad I had straightened that out at least, and headed for the old suitcase most of my clothes were in. It was still old, still battered, and a bit stiff since the heat barely reached up here. I checked the few clothing items I had, a couple of t-shirts that had a few holes in them, a pair of jeans, two pairs of old leggings Mom had given me to make me look more 'professional' to guests around the house when she had hoped we could host parties. Dad had shut that idea down when I hadn't gotten my wolf. There were a few pairs of socks that had been mended and my only good pairs of underwear. They weren't lacy or anything but were comfortable enough for me to run around in or sleep in if I was too tired to change into my pajamas. My bras had holes as well as the underwire in a couple of them was broken in spots. Mom didn't think I needed more than two bras, and because her chest and mine differed in size, I was a cup bigger. She'd just throw her old ones out. The workout clothes Kyle had bought me as well as his old coat, and Tyler's were hidden in a floorboard under the suitcase in case Mom or Dad came up here. It was a rare occurrence, but it did happen sometimes. I grabbed everything and placed it in the suitcase, I began to zip it up when I heard footsteps coming up the stairs. I finished zipping and began to go through my hiding spots in the walls when Tyler appeared in the doorway. He glanced around the small room, smaller now that he was in here and frowned, "How did you live in here?" he asked, taking in the tiny bathroom, the mattress and box spring on the floor below the wooden beam, the plywood desk on egg crates in the corner. I shrugged, "I managed." I said, reaching my arm into the hole, nearly elbow deep to grab my savings. It wasn't much, a few dollars from my last paycheck, but it'd tie me over until I went back to work. I pulled it out and counted, putting it in my pocket for my outing with Kyle later. Tyler looked at me confused, "What's that?" he asked, pointing to my suitcase. I looked down, there was a hole that I didn't realize on the side of the suitcase and of course when I set it upright after zipping it all the way, my clothes shuffled inside and my underwear decided to peek out. I blushed and quickly stuffed it back inside, not looking at him, "Nothing, did you need something?" I asked, stepping in front of the bag so he wouldn't see if it happened again. Tyler smirked but didn't comment, "Kyle's pretty much done with packing his stuff and wanted to know if you needed anything from your Mom's closet. Apparently, there's a lot of new stuff that hadn't been worn yet in there." he said. I shook my head, "Mom's stuff is hers, brand new or not. I don't want to touch it." I said firmly, checking my room again for anything else I might need. He nodded and then grabbed my bag. I went to stop him, but he smiled, "Don't worry, princess, I'll keep it sideways to put in the car. That way, if anything peeks out again, it won't be so obvious." he joked, and I blushed and began to follow him down the stairs, I glanced back at my old room and smiled, "Thanks for being my safe haven." I whispered to the room as I closed the door. Kyle was standing outside his room with his duffle bag. He handed me a hoodie. "I found my extra one in the closet meant to give it to you at school, but things got kinda hectic before I could." he said. I took it with a smile, "Thanks, Kyle. Where's Ryan and Matt?" I asked curiously. Kyle looked down towards our parents' room. "They found some stuff in Dad's office the night you were rescued. Wanted both of us to go in there when we were done getting our things packed." he said seriously. I looked at him confused. What would Dad have in his office that we both needed to see? "You think it has something to do with their trial?" I asked as we walked down the hall. He shrugged as he set his bag down outside the door to the bedroom, "I don't know, Dad never let me in there. He said that he'd handle the family stuff, and all I needed to do was continue my studies and training. I never got curious enough to risk his wrath to check it out." he explained as we walked in. I glanced around the room, looking for Ryan and Matt, I didn't take in the scenery. I knew Mom and Dad's room was nice, but there were bad memories associated with being in here, I shook my head, then glanced at the bookcase, and my jaw dropped. The bookcase opened revealing an office! I thought when the boys said they found something in Dad's office, that meant the office at the packhouse, not a hidden one in my parents' bedroom! "What in Selene's name?" Kyle asked, looking around the hidden room. Matt was looking at a stack of papers scattered over the top of a wooden desk while Ryan looked through the other drawers. They looked up at Kyle's voice, and their faces held a serious look. "Hey, take a seat. We've got some stuff to go over with you two before we head back." Matt said, pointing to the chairs in front of the desk. Kyle and I sat still looking around, bewildered, "We didn't know this room existed." I said, looking at Kyle's equally astonished face. Ryan nodded, "We figured, one of the warriors found it the night we rescued you." he explained as Matt sat in the desk chair. I looked at them confused, but they sighed before holding up the stacks of letters, "To get to the point, you guys aren't fully brother and sister. Teira, your Mom's name is not Isabelle Harris, and we have your birth certificate to prove it."
