Teira's POV
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Matt asked me nervously as I stood in front of my parent's house a few days later. I got the all-clear from the doctor two days ago and was discharged from the hospital yesterday with the instructions to rest with light activity for a couple of weeks.
The triplets had me stay in a temporary guest room on the second floor while the Alpha made sure the preparations for mine and Kyle's rooms were ready. I was so tired last night that I didn't even look around properly before heading into bed.
I woke to all three boys camped by my bedroom door when I opened it this morning. They were in various states of sleep and I was confused, "Why are you guys sleeping out here?" I asked. They stood up yawning and stretching, all of them dressed in pajamas, thankfully, I still had a hard time getting Tyler's bare chest out of my head when I was daydreaming.
Ryan scratched the back of his neck sheepishly, "To be honest, angel, we missed sleeping next to you. But since you aren't in the hospital anymore, we thought we'd give you space before talking about it." he explained his face heating. I smiled, I couldn't help it. All three of them looked like poor puppies waiting for my response.
I opened my mouth to respond when Kyle came up behind them, fully dressed, "Hey Tei, you ready for breakfast? Alpha says our rooms are ready so we can move in as soon as we get our stuff." he said causing the triplets to jump then glare at him, "What?" he asked confused.
"Dude, can't you see we were talking about something?" Tyler grumbled, and I laughed, "Give me a moment, and I'll head down." I said shutting the door on three grumpy triplets and one bewildered brother.
I didn't hear their conversation as I grabbed one of Tyler's shirts and a pair of Ryan's jeans that they had lent me, with a belt so the jeans wouldn't fall off me. They were very big on me but it's all I had until I grabbed my things from the house. Kyle had refused to go back without me even though the triplets stayed with me whenever they could.
When I opened the door again, the boys were leaning against the wall. Kyle had a smirk on his face and he stepped forward, placing his arm around my shoulder as we headed down towards the elevator. He pushed the button and allowed me inside then proceeded to engage in a mini wrestling match as the triplets tried to sidestep him and surround me in the elevator.
Before it could turn into a full-blown fight, I whistled, and they froze. I c****d my eyebrow at them, "What's wrong with you guys?" I asked sternly crossing my arms over my chest. They separated each looking at me sheepishly before Kyle spoke, "They've been spending a lot of time with you and I wanted to escort you down to breakfast but they kept saying they wanted to talk to you and when we couldn't come to an agreement, I decided to try and..." he trailed off at my glare.
"Kyle, you are a top warrior of this pack, as well as about to graduate high school. You cannot act like a child, especially towards the future Alphas. If you want to spend time with me, ask me. I have a say in who I spend time with." I lectured. My brother nodded like a scolded little boy and walked in beside me. "And you three," I turned my glare on the triplets who winced but didn't back down, "You have been spending all your time with me. Kyle is my brother, and, for once, we aren't limited by our parents on how we spend it. So if he says he wants to spend time with me and then you talk to me about it. You do NOT get to dictate how I spend my time. Understand?" I said sternly.
Ryan grumbled Matt nodded reluctantly, but Tyler smirked dangerously, "See, princess, that's not exactly going to work. As you said, we're the future Alphas and you are special to us. We want to get to know you better, and that requires spending time together. So if we say that we have plans with you, No One is going to say otherwise." he stated stubbornly. I growled and Matt stepped in between us before I did something dumb like attack Tyler or give in to the urge to kiss him.
"Treasure, you are right. We should talk to you before saying who you can and can't spend time with, but you need to give us a break as well. You've been hurt badly by people who should have been taking care of you; we had to rescue you from those people and nearly lost you. We're a bit protective. Now, we know Kyle would never harm you so you and he can go run around together after we get your things from your house. But, we want you to go shopping and grab new clothes, shoes, accessories, etc. As well as there will be another guard with you to watch your and Kyle's backs. Ok?" Matt said as they climbed in the elevator, too, and we finally hit the button to head down to the dining hall.
Tyler huffed and crossed his arms but I nodded, "Fine, but don't expect me to get much. I haven't worked since before all this happened." I said quietly as the elevator doors opened and we walked through the common room towards the dining hall. We entered the large room near the kitchen, and I froze; I didn't expect there to be this many pack members there. Normally, meals just consisted of Kyle and our parents, but here, close to a hundred people were sitting, laughing, and talking.
Kyle led me towards a large table set up on a dais where the Alpha and Luna were already sitting, eating quietly. I hesitated, but Tyler gently placed his hand on the small of my back and guided me forward; Matt pulled out my chair across from the Alpha and had me sit while Tyler sat on my right across from the Luna.
The Alpha smiled brightly as I sat, "Good morning, Teira. Did you sleep well?" he asked. I smiled back, "Good morning Alpha, Luna. I slept very well, thank you." I stated as Kyle sat on my left and both he and Tyler began to load food onto my plate. The Luna smiled but said nothing when I greeted her, I could tell she didn't want to talk to me with the boys and Alpha around me. Which suited me just fine.
I looked at my plate in astonishment; the boys had piled eggs, waffles, bacon, sausage links, hashbrowns, and steaming croissants with melted butter on top of my plate. I glanced at Kyle, bewildered; how am I supposed to eat all this?! I asked over the link not wanting to appear rude or ungrateful in front of my hosts.
He smiled, Just eat as much as you can, Tei. They won't fault you if you can't eat it all. He replied. I sighed then began to eat, but stopped at the look of disgust on the Luna's face. She hid it quickly after I noticed and smiled sweetly, "It appears you have a large appetite, Teira. It's a wonder where you put it all." she said gently. The Alpha looked at her in shock, "Megan! That's enough!" he barked, and she frowned but fell silent, picking at her plate and glaring at her mate.
Tyler stiffened at his mom's words, "Mom, Teira needs to eat more. She's too skinny as it is. Besides, we like girls who can eat instead of pick at their food. The more muscle on them, the better they are at defending themselves and their pack." he said sternly. The Luna glared, "You are not to speak to me that way, lunas do not fight. They care for their pack and families and are the last line of defense when the pack is attacked. They never go into battle." she snapped.
The Alpha looked at her sternly, and the Luna stiffened then huffed, "Please excuse me; I didn't get enough sleep last night and must retire to my room. I'll see you all later." she said quietly, still glaring in my direction before leaving the table. The tension at the table eased, and everybody relaxed; the Alpha looked at me apologetically, "I'm sorry you had to deal with that, Teira. Megan has some issues when it comes to who the boys hang out with. I've spoken to her about it but it appears she's going to need some time to adjust. Please don't let her behavior discourage you, you are my guest and a good friend of the boys. As far as I'm concerned, you are family." he stated, squeezing my hand gently.
I smiled, "Don't worry Alpha, I won't take her behavior to heart. And once again, thank you for letting us stay here." He waved off my thanks, "No problem at all, Teira. Now you and Kyle head out to get your things, your rooms are on the third floor and the boys will show you to them as well as the code to get there. Go on now." he said noticing we had finished eating. I nodded and Tyler pulled my chair out and held out his hand. I took it, and he led me outside, followed by Kyle and his brothers.
Fifteen minutes later, here we were, standing in front of our house with Matt, asking if I was sure I wanted to go inside. I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly then nodded and headed for the door, bracing myself for the memories to flood my mind.
