Karthik’s POV
It has been four years since Priyanka left me. Dad retired and made me the CEO of the company two years ago. Since then I have been working day and night for the company. I have been staying alone in my penthouse away from my family. My thoughts were disturbed when the door of my cabin opened. I was irritated on how could someone enter my cabin without my permission. But my frown was immediately replaced by a smile when I saw the person.
“Mom,” I exclaimed happily and hugged my mother.
“How are you mera bacha (my son). Don’t you eat properly see how thin you have become?”
I chuckled at mom’s sentence.
“Mom you please down comfortably. I have my food regularly I am exercising every day to remain fit.”
“Okay, by the way beta I have got you your favourite aloo paratha for lunch.”
“Thank you mummy. I miss homemade food.”
Mom had tears in her eyes.
“Why don’t you come home beta (son). We all miss you a lot. It has been two years since you left.”
“Mom please stop crying.” I said while wiping the tears from her cheeks. I could not see her like this anymore. “I will come back home this weekend mom”
Mom immediately smiled after hearing my words.
“Mom you came all the way from the mansion to give me lunch”
Mom smirked looking at me
“No beta I want to talk to you something. Do you remember Rajat uncle?”
“Yes. Dad’s best friend”
“Yes beta. Their family is coming home tonight for dinner, and I want you to be present there. They shifted back to Delhi last week. Will you please come beta?”Mom made a puppy face at me.
I chuckled at her tricks.
“Yes I will come mom.”
She stood up and was about to leave, when she suddenly said “Karthik your dad and I want you to meet Sanjana, Rajat uncle’s daughter.”
I frowned after hearing her words.
“Mom I have told you a lot of times that I do not want to get married”
“Bacha (child) you are going to turn 30 in few months. We are really worried for you son, and everyone is not the same. You cannot always hold on to your past. You have to move forward at some point of time. We all know what happened with you is wrong, but for me will you meet her once.”she pleaded while looking at me.
I did not answer her and looked at her blankly. There were tears in her eyes, but she blinked them away. She was about to leave when I suddenly said,
“Okay mom”
She gave me a beautiful smile which I missed a lot. She hugged me and kissed me on my forehead.
“Thank you so much beta. We all will wait for you. Be there by 7 pm”
“Okay mom. I love you.”
“I love you too bacha,” saying this, she left with a smile on her face.
I chuckled and went back to work. I hope everything goes fine tonight.
