Chapter 11

Karthik POV

After the announcement of the dates, I felt happy and excited. Within two months she will be mine. She is a beauty with brains. She looks beautiful in whatever she wears. The next three days went quickly as I was working on an important project.

Rahul was sitting in my cabin and we were working together. He is the MD of my company.

“Hey buddy, let’s go and have lunch. I am starving” Rahul said

“Just give me 5 minutes,” I replied without looking at him.

“Bro, are you really happy with his alliance or you are doing it for the sake of uncle and aunty,” Rahul asked suddenly

“Honestly, I am happy that I am marrying her. She is perfect” I replied with a smile and continued “Why did you ask this suddenly?”

“I was thinking if you are not happy then we can cancel this wedding” he replied

I suddenly got angry with what he said and clenched my fist tightly. I started feeling possessive and I could not imagine her with someone else.       

“No, I do not want to cancel it,” I said.

I looked at Rahul and he was smiling widely.

“Relax bro,” he said and starting laughing.

“Aren’t you hungry and more” I practically yelled but that did not stop him. He stopped after a few seconds and said “You already like her”

His sentence caught me off guard. Do I like her? I brushed this thought away and we went to have our lunch.

Sanjana POV

I was really happy with my new job and all my colleagues are good. I was having my lunch when mom called me and reminded me that we have to go today to buy the engagement rings. I left the office at the usual time and went home. As I entered I saw Karthik and Naina aunty were already there. I touched Naina aunty’s feet to take her blessings. I quickly went to my room to get ready.

I took a quick shower and wore a blue churidar. I did minimal makeup and came out of my room.

Mom and aunt sat behind and I had to sit next to Karthik. I could feel Karthik’s eyes on me. I turned my head towards him and saw him staring at me. I quickly turned to the other side and could feel my cheeks burnt in embarrassment.

We went to the shop and we're looking for rings, but I did not like any of them. Mom and aunt had already left us alone and they were in the other section.

“Sanjana, this ring looks beautiful. Do you like it?” Karthik asked

I loved the ring. It was a simple thin rose gold ring with a pearl in the center and diamond on it either side.

“Yes I love it, it’s beautiful” I replied. I saw, Karthik was looking at me with so many emotions that I could not understand.

We finalized the rings and went home. I called Moly as I saw her missed call.

"Hello, Moly"

"Hi, Sanju. how was your shopping?"

"I was good. We got the rings, now the only dress is remaining."

"Okay, how is jiju (brother-in-law)?"

"I do not understand Karthik, on one side he says it is an Open Marriage and on the other side, he has so many emotions in his eyes for me. His is impossible."

"Relax, everything will be fine."

We talked a little more and then went to sleep.
