Chapter 38The dead bike rider turns out to be a twenty-year-old runaway from Carcassonne, named Franck Boyer. I interview his heartbroken parents shortly after they identify his body, and I'm moved by their deep sadness. They'd tried everything they could think of to locate the young man after he left home, aged just sixteen, but to no avail. They are still mystified about what went wrong with their son that would cause him to run off in the first place.
