Chapter 48Within a very short time the word is out about Edvard's death. The phone at the office is ringing off the hook with people calling to confirm the news. The impact that his death has caused is huge, and dozens of people have called in to the office to congratulate me and my colleagues. Many have brought gifts of chocolates or wine, and we're overwhelmed. My colleagues and I take the joint decision to lock up and go home early, and we divide the gifts as equally as we can. When I arrive home, even Patricia, who has been at the house all day, knows the news.
“Marjorie phoned,” she explains. “I've taken loads of orders today and I think it's because everyone is so much happier. What better way to celebrate than with Patricia's pies?” she says with a grin.
