Chapter 26The journey passes in a blur. Too late, I think of all the things I should have said to my mother. I still can't quite believe she's done this to me once again, and as I park the car and step into the garden, I'm close to tears. Ollee hurtles towards me with his favourite toy, a burst football, in his mouth. He bangs the ball into my knees in an effort to get me to play with him, but I'm really not in the mood for games. I half heartedly pull the ball from his jaws and throw it far down the garden and the little dog careers after it. Then I enter the front door and slump into my chair.
