‎*CHAPTER 21: THE PLAN AGAINST CriSTILLA* ‎ ‎*Daniel P.O.V.* ‎_(In his house)_ ‎ ‎The room was quiet. Too quiet. ‎I sat on the edge of my bed, staring at the framed picture in my hands. Katana’s smile. That smile that could make anyone forget their own name. ‎ ‎"Oh Katrina," I whispered. "I can't wait for you to notice me." ‎ ‎I’ve been crushing on her for years. Years of watching her from a distance, of pretending I didn’t care when she laughed with other guys. But now? Now it felt different. Now it felt like I was running out of time. ‎I reached out and traced her face on the photo with my finger, like that would make her real. Like that would make her mine. ‎ ‎- _ _ ‎ ‎*Katrina P.O.V.* ‎_(In the living room)_ ‎ ‎"My God," I hissed, pacing back and forth. "It feels like I am about to explode." ‎ ‎My chest was tight with rage. How dare she. ‎"Here I am. The real daughter. And Cristilla is stealing him away from me. Enjoying the luxury that I am supposed to enjoy. Living in my house. Eating my food." ‎ ‎Ruby, my mother, sat calmly on the couch with a glass of wine. She looked at me like I was a child throwing a tantrum. ‎"Calm down," she said smoothly. "I have a plan." ‎ ‎I stopped. "What’s the plan?" dave my dad, asked from his chair. His voice was careful. "Remember to be careful in whatever you do to her." ‎ ‎Ruby smiled. It wasn’t a nice smile. ‎"Don’t you worry. If my plan works out..." She took a slow sip of wine. "Don’t you trust me again?" ‎ ‎Dave and I exchanged a look. We didn’t have a choice. We had to trust her. ‎ ‎The three of us sat there in silence, plotting. When we were done, Ruby clapped her hands once. ‎"Wine," she called. "Bring us wine. We’re celebrating our upcoming victory." ‎ ‎- _ _ ‎ ‎*Writer P.O.V.* ‎Across town, things were no better. ‎ ‎*In Jasper Residence* ‎ ‎"s**t," Jasper muttered to himself, running a hand through his hair. "What is it that I am not good enough for her?" ‎ ‎The door slammed open. ‎"Kyra, come in," he said without looking up. "It better be important." ‎ ‎"It is," she snapped. "You need to stop this. Don’t you see that she has a lot going on? That’s what? You’re behaving as if you don’t know. You hurt her Enough, Jasper." ‎He finally looked at her, eyes blazing. ‎"Tell me how is it my fault," he said, voice low and dangerous. ?" ‎ ‎Kyra stepped closer. "Oh yes, I can’t let you hurt my crush Best friend. Although we are not dating, I can’t sit back and watch you hurt him." ‎ ‎The tension in the room was thick enough to cut. ‎ ‎,her voice cold. "Not like you who is desperate. You are not only stupid, but you are a fool." ‎ ‎She turned and walked out, leaving him standing there speechless. ‎ ‎*In Spotlight Cafe* ‎Cristilla pov ‎Today was the day. The test. ‎There were about 12 of us lined up, each standing beside the brand new motorcycle they’d given us. My heart was pounding, but I kept my face blank. ‎ ‎They asked us technical questions about the bikes. Engine parts. Safety. Rules. ‎We answered. ‎Then came the real test. "Start the motorcycle. Do stunts." ‎ ‎My hands didn’t shake. Not once. ‎ ‎Hours later, it was over. ‎Only four of us passed. ‎I was one of them. ‎ ‎I was officially employed now. Evening shift. Sir Lionel had the morning shift, so we wouldn’t be crossing paths. ‎ ‎That’s when I heard her. ‎ ‎"Hi, my name is Flora. Finally we’re about to pass this damn test," she said, grinning at me. ‎ ‎I blinked. Then laughed. "Yeah, sorry. My name is Cristilla. Welcome to Spotlight Cafe." ‎ ‎"So, can we be friends?" she asked. ‎"Sure, why not," I replied. We shook hands. ‎ ‎Turns out fate really did bring us together. Her shift was in the evening too. And her house? Just two blocks from mine. ‎ ‎So we decided to walk home together. ‎ ‎When we got to my place, she stayed a while. She’d forget her key and her parents weren’t home yet. ‎We sat and gist about girly stuff. Clothes. Boys. Life. It was weird, but nice. She seemed shy and calm, but with a quiet strength. If this had been Katrina, I would’ve walked out. ‎ ‎Later, we walked to her house. And yes, her parents were home. With her little brother, Junior. ‎ ‎They welcomed me like they’d been expecting me. Fed me. Asked about my parents. ‎I told them the truth. That they were both dead. ‎They didn’t pity me. They just said, "Don’t worry. You’re family now." ‎ ‎- _ _ ‎ ‎The next morning, school felt different. Lighter. Because school was finally over, and I had a job. ‎ ‎Flora parents took me half my journey since we were going to different direction she said. "Be safe," she said. ‎I took a bike to school. Flora’s car went a different direction. ‎ ‎At school, I greeted people. Me. Greeting people. That was new. ‎ ‎- _ _ ‎ ‎That evening, I was getting ready for work when I heard the doorbell. ‎"Gesh time is moving fast today," I murmured. ‎ ‎It was Flora. ‎We put on our uniforms. Then the manager came with delivery orders. ‎ ‎"Mine is only one delivery house," she said, looking at me. "The Boss requested you specifically." ‎ ‎I frowned. Who could it be? ‎I picked up the package. ‎ ‎- _ _ ‎ ‎I rode my motorcycle to the location given to me. ‎ ‎It was a deserted area. Barely anyone lived here. The house looked poor from the outside. The door was open. ‎ ‎No one was inside. ‎The light was dim. On the table was the package, a note, and some cash. The note said to collect the money. ‎ ‎My skin crawled. Like someone was watching me. ‎I needed to go home. I wasn’t staying in that room any longer. ‎ ‎I turned to leave. ‎ ‎Then I felt it. ‎Breath on my neck. ‎A voice, low and cruel: ‎_"Sorry. Can I have a taste of you for this mother f__ker."_ ‎ ‎My heart stopped. ‎I ran. ‎I don’t know how, but I ran out of that house and didn’t look back. ‎ ‎to be continued.... ‎ ‎--- ‎ ✨
