Chp 10: Back Fire

POV: Mia I pulled up to the campgrounds and was greeted by staff security. As I stepped out of the car, they all aimed their guns at me as the head councilor, O’Neill, came forward. “Why did you return so soon? Your grandmother said if you return to shoot you on site. So defend yourself now because I am the only reason they aren’t firing.” I shook my head in disbelief at O’Neill’s words. I lifted the sleeve of my tatted arm to relieve as much of the mark. “I completed my mission and have returned for Ji-Yong's assistance. His father did assign him to me personally.” Okay, half of what I said was a lie, but I did need Ji-Yong. I would have texted him when I arrived, but this hunting party interrupted that idea. “Okay, I will get him for you, but you must stay here.” She turned away to get him when one of the guards shot at me. A low growl with enough power started to shake the ground, and I dodged the bullet without looking at him. Everyone around me froze and looked at me while I turned my head to look at the guard who fired. “Try that again before she gets Ji-Yong, and I will destroy you.” I threaten the shooter, seeing terror doing the tango in their eyes. Ji-Yong, Hazel, Ryan, and the other councilors came running over with their groups to see what had happened. Thankfully, they didn’t hear the threat and arrived once I had calmed down. “Miss Drakes!” The kids all cheered as I smiled kindly towards the innocence that was now present. Making the guards all have to holster their weapons to make sure they didn’t expose their secret mission. “Wait, that growl was you?” Zane said as he stepped forward, annoyed that I was back. My smile slipped into a smirk as I had my fingers dance along my flame tattoos. “Why does that concern you? Unlike you, I would never dare harm a child.” I said calmly, pointing out that he was a jerk. “I wouldn’t mind putting you back in your place, though.” Zane glared at me when a rock was whipped towards me. I caught the rock before impact and glanced over at Connor. His eyes held rage as he stared me down. “Repeat, I don’t harm children.” I winked at him, making Zane’s kid brother angrier. I dropped the rock beside me and looked over at Ji-Yong. “They stopped me from texting you and wanted to put on a show.” We both laughed as he came forward. “So you found him?” I nodded my head and held out my arm to him. The joy of seeing me fade from his expression faded into sadness. Before he put on a mask to hide his emotions. “You did more than create a Familiar bond. You mated him?” The whispers started behind his back as I noticed Hazel and Ryan looking at each other. “I just discovered we were flame-bonded last night.” A dragon term to express that they found their eternal mate. “Something triggered my Dragon side to awake to protect myself. That is when we discovered we had each other’s flames.” Ji-Yong’s mask didn’t falter as he grazed my tatted arm with his fingers. “Well, that sucks because that means I can’t claim you as my Mage.” The sadness was still in his tone even though he was trying to hide it. “Actually, that is why I came back here for you, Ji-Yong.” His mask crumbled as his eyes shot up to look at me. “I think I triggered a prophecy that might break the familiar curse.” I had everyone’s attention as they all shut up. “I need your help to see the SSC again. Not only to tell them the mission is complete but to correct a wrong. Once that will set you and everyone else free.” I smiled up at him when I saw hope salsa in his eyes. “Hatchling, I knew you were going to be something special.” He pulled out a glowing red card and threw it into the space behind me that turned into a flame portal. “After you, milady,” Ji-Yong said as he waved his hand for me to go first. I took his hand and dragged him through the portal with me. Before it could close, Ryan and Hazel ran through to come with us. I laughed and shook my head at their willingness to be doomed with me. “You both know this most likely won’t be a pretty visit.” They nodded before we all stormed into the SSC hall. To no surprise, all council members were present. I made eye contact with my grandmother and smirked. “You dare to come back here empty-handed and smirk at us?” Scarlett, my grandmother, said as she glared down at me. I stepped forward before taking a deep breath. “I actually succeeded in the task that the Chairwoman of Heavenly Beings ordered.” I pulled my arm in the shirt to adjust it so that it remained covering my chest but relieved a black flame tattoo that shimmered blue when light shined on it. “I not only created the Familiar Bond, but I now am flame bonded to Tyson Meng.” Everyone’s eyes went wide the moment I said my mate’s name. Andi, Ji-Yong's father, slammed his hand against the arm of his chair before standing up. “Liar! Why would that murderer ever have a Mate!” His eyes glowed blood red as he challenged my statement. My grandmother stood beside him as her eyes matched Andi. Showing everyone they were familiar, bonded, and synced in their rage. “He said you might challenge me, so I should ask Ms. Saint to confirm. Since Angels can determine whether a bond is real or not.” I was enjoying being defiant to those two and turned to smile sweetly at Victoria Saint, the Chairwoman of Heavenly Beings. She stood up before her angelic, pure white wings extended from her back to help her fly down to stand before me. She took my arm and waved a shimmering white hand over my entire arm, making the blue flames finally appear and dance along the black of the tattoo. “Her words are true. Mia Drakes and flame-bonded to Tyson Meng.” A growl loud enough to shake the entire building escaped Andi as his scales started to appear along his skin. ‘Say her name.’ A sweet female voice echoed in my head as I glared at Andi. “Tia Drakes,” I said softly as I put my shirt back on correctly. Andi’s eyes widened as he calmed down, but my grandmother looked at Andi, confused, before staring me down. “How do you know that name, you rotten child?” She screeched as she gripped the railing that separated the council from the guilty person. “How can I not know that name? She is our ancestor, after all, and the person Tyson Meng was wrongfully accused of murdering.” I said before smirking at her. “Key word being wrongfully. Apparently, the first generation sided with the real murder to imprison my mate.” I had the entire room’s attention on me as I looked around. My grandmother used wind magic to approach me and yanked my arm. “You purified child, some acting like you completed the task at hand and spreading lies.” He shrieked before using her fingers with sharp nails to scratch away at my tattoo. “I don’t know how you did that flame trick, but this is fake.” I whimpered in pain as she started to draw blood. as I tried to pull my arm free from her grip. “Let go of me, you evil woman!” I yelled as she dug the nails of her other hand deep into my arm to keep hold of my arm, not caring that she was injuring me in front of the council. “I. Said. Let. Go!” My words turned into a roar as I felt the presence of a Dragon, but this was mine and not Tyson's. I pushed her way with the arm, and her head was sheer force and sent her into a wall, as the wounds healed with new scales instead of skin. “You filthy go for nothing, lizard! Don’t you ever touch my human like that again, or I will come forth and burn you alive!” Ji-Yong wrapped his arm around my waist to hold me back from attacking my grandmother. Scarlett shook her head and glared at me as knights surrounded us. Victoria, though, waved them away. “She has every right to attack and threaten Scarlett. She did attack her in front of us.” Akira Sato, Alpha of Alphas, walked over to Andi and crossed his arms. “Either get your Mage you’re familiar with out of here, or we will be forced to imprison her for attacking an innocent,” Akira said as he waved his hand towards Scarlett. “I suggest you lock her up because she attacked the future Dragons queen.” We all turned to see Tyson walk into the room, dressed in a fabulous blue three-piece suit with a black dress shirt. “Now that I’m free to roam again, I’m coming back for my crown that was stolen from me. Isn’t that right, Anacalagon?” I looked between them and saw their Dragon coming forth in their eyes. “You killed Tia, and I will be damn if I allow you to claim her reincarnation,” Andi growled while Ji-Yong and I looked at each other, confused. “I swore when she came back, I would make sure she know who the better Dragon is, and that isn’t you.” Tyson chuckled as he walked over to me. He arched an eyebrow at Ji-Yong as he pulled me to his side. “I feel sorry that he you’re father.” Ji-Yong growled but stopped when Tyson signaled for a bunch of men to come in and surround all of us. I noticed they started to pull at Hazel and Ryan, who had been quietly watching. “Don’t touch them! Unless you want to face my wrath!” I yelled at the guards before they let go of Hazel and Ryan. I turned to look at Tyson. “Sorry, but Ji-Yong, Hazel, and Ryan are my friends, here to support me. Regardless of who their parents are, they are good people.” Tyson looked over at Hazel and Ryan, then at Ji-Yong, before coming back at me. “Sorry, Wo de tianxin, but they were just trying to play safe. Since the person that really killed your ancestor is your friend Ji-Yong’s father.” Tyson said as he looked up at Andi. “Strong accusation you have there. Where is your proof? Since you were imprisoned for so long, I doubt you have any.” Andi said, smirking deviously at Tyson but with a glint of annoyance in his eyes at Tyson holding me. “Oh, we are working on that. For now, I thought it would be best to meet this Supernatural Supreme Council that has developed over time.” Tyson kissed the top of my head before stepping to face the council. “I believe now that my Mate, Mia, has provided proof of our bonds, you are to deem her innocent and allow him to go back to her normal life.” I was stunned that he was speaking for me, but I wanted to confront them on breaking the familiar curse. ‘Not Yet, Mate.’ I heard Tyson in my head before noticing he was looking at me. “Mia is allowed to return to her normal life.” Magnus Torres, Chairman of Hybrids, spoke up on behalf of the council. “Oh, by the way, little one, now that it appears you are coming into your Dragon nature and hopefully soon your Mage magic, I will now be the only Council member in charge of your well-being. You are officially deemed a Hybrid Princess.” Magnus's ruling left me standing in shock but didn’t stop me from seeing Tyson walk over to me. He crushed his lips on mine when he gently grabbed hold of my face. “As you for Scarlett Drakes.” Tyson broke the kiss to see Victoria walk over to my grandmother. She had the knights grab hold of her and use magic suppressor handcuffs on her. “You are under arrest currently for wrongfully accusing and punishing an innocent person, who so happens to be the new Hybrid Princess.” Grandmother yelled, kicked, and screamed as they dragged her away to the cells. “Andi, you may stay amongst us, but sadly you have to find a way to break your bond with Scarlett before she is sentenced to any punishment.” Alpha Akira said before the entire council dismissed us all. They informed Tyson that to because of accusing someone of crimes unless he can prove it, but released him to my care. Tyson, though, was returning to his family, so we had to part ways. He kissed me passionately on the lips before I returned to the campground.
