Chp 5: The Witch & The Dragon

All I heard was myself screaming as I fell. I noticed my phone falling but showing that I was surrounded by ice. I grabbed the phone and started using the ice walls to slide down. Soon, the wall became a slide, and the sides behind the ice walls began to appear. The lights illuminated until I finally landed on a flat ice surface. The lights were following me from behind the ice. They lit up the ice room I seemed to land in, revealing that I was actually in an Ice prison. I noticed metal bars embedded in the ice with talismans all over them. I moved closer to see inside and was greeted with a growl. ‘Let… me… out…’ The voice was back and louder this time. I heard heavy shuffling as a dragon head moved into the site of the bars. A dark blue scaly dragon head with arctic blue eyes appeared before me. The dragon rumbled as smoke came from his close in an exhale. ‘Let me out, Mage.’ I went to move and touch their head but slipped and fell back on my ass. Their rumble sounded like a laugh at my misfortune. “Don’t laugh at me, or I won’t let you out,” I whined as I tried to stand back up. The dragon huffed and closed his eyes. ‘Hard not to at something adorable.’ I was blushing at their comment since it warmed my face. ‘Will you let me out now?’ He looked back up at me while I dusted myself off. “Magic words?” I smiled at them as I grabbed onto the bar to avoid falling again. ‘I am over 2000 years old. What makes you think I’ll listen to a Hatchling request for a magic word?’ My jaw dropped open when they informed me of their age. “Well, sorry for wanting you to ask politely. However, I shouldn’t be surprised at your rudeness. You’re older than my evil grandmother, who wants to kill me.” They huffed again and moved their head so we were at each other’s eye level. ‘Don’t compare me to that wench. I know she evil since I saved you from her after all.’ I was shocked by their words. “You’re my familiar?” The dragon squinted at me and growled, with small blue flames coming from their mouth. ‘Hatchling, what is your name?’ They asked as the sense of impending danger came over me. “Mia Drakes, of the Dragon Mage bloodline.” After I gave my name, the dragon blew out a massive amount of blue fire. ‘Hatching set me free now, and I won’t kill you for being the descendant of Tia Drake!’ The dragon’s eyes were now slits as his claws slammed against the bars, knocking me down again. I groaned in pain from the impact before looking back at the dragon. “No! It’s not like you could even kill me anyway.” The dragon slammed the bars again as if trying to break free. ‘You will let me out, or I will let your grandmother know you are down here!’ They threatened me again, expressing their rage even further. I stood up again, and reached past the bars, and smacked the dragon’s nose. They groaned and moved away from me and the bars. “Swear to me that you will protect me from my grandmother. Then and only then will I set you free, my familiar.” The dragon glared at me before moving back over and touching my hand with his nose. ‘Deal, I will protect you from her.’ I felt like this would backfire on me, but I felt the magical bond rushing through my arm. A blue flame tattoo burned onto my wrist, binding our agreement. The moment the tattoo was completed, the talismans burned away, and the bars shattered. The dragon came over to me and turned into a man, leaving me stunned. The dragon was the most beautiful man I have ever seen. He had tan skin with no blemishes but a mark matching my tatted wrist over his heart, was muscular to the nines, and had the most beautiful long, flowing black, silky hair. I just wanted to run my fingers through those luscious locks. His eyes, though, were still glowing artic blue and were slits. “Might as well look down then back up if you’re going to gawk like that.” The dragon pointed out, which I mindlessly obeyed. Instantly regretting it the second I noticed he was completely naked. I looked away and covered my eyes to hide my embarrassment if not show respect. “Really? Not even going to use your magic to give some clothes?” I peeked at his face through the fingers of my eyes. “I don’t know how I was human until I got to camp this year.” The dragon groaned in annoyance before taking my wrist to move my hand away from my face. “Just wave your hand over my body as if you were shooing me away. Then imagine me being fully dressed.” He directed me as he left my hand hanging in the air. I waved it over his body, still blushing at the anaconda between his legs, whilst imagining him in jeans and a t-shirt. Just like he said, the clothes appear on his body. The shirt hugged his muscular frame, but jeans being a perfect fit, and a pair of Nikes. “Mind doing something about my hair? Not used to it being this long.” He requested rudely, making me pout at the idea of harming his hair. “You sure?” I asked before stepping closer and running my fingers through his silky black hair. He closed his eyes, leading me to believe he liked it when I played with his hair. He allowed me only a moment before gently gripping my arms. “I don’t like having long hair.” I sighed before lightly pulling my arms free and running my hands through his hair, imagining his favorite style. The length disappeared into ice particles slowly. His hair transformed to a short length with the sides faded. He looked even more handsome than with long hair. My heart skipped a beat at the idea of being lost in his arms in the bedroom. We were both snapped back to reality when the ice prison started to tremble. Ice spears were falling around him from the ceiling as the walls crumbled. “We got to get out of here.” The dragon said before returning to his glorious dragon form, which barely fit in the Ice prison now. He used his wing to throw me onto his back smoothly. ‘Hold on tight.’ He said mentally before taking off and flying us out of the artic dungeon. Even though everything was crumbling around us, it looked like stardust floating around me. This familiar of mine flew smoothly to the surface, but the fantastic joy ride was short-lived. When he landed on the earth, we were surrounded by the supreme council knights. One of them was guarding my handcuffed best friend. As the Knights pulled out swords, I slowly climbed off the dragon’s back. The dragon changed back to his human form, completely dressed. He gently grabbed my hand and brushed a loose strand of my hair behind my ear. “I promise to protect you from your grandmother only. Sorry, sweet Mia, you’re on your own from here.” I looked up at the handsome dragon in fear of abandonment. “What, but you’re my Familiar, and I haven’t even learned your name.” I whimpered as he showed me his tattoo on his chest. “This is the Familiar bond I have with Tia Drakes, not you, hatchling.” He held up my tatted wrist to my view. “This is just an agreement to protect you from your grandmother. Nothing more, and nothing less.” The dragon came me a cocky smirk before kissing my forehead. “You don’t need to learn my name since I won’t see you again unless your grandmother dares to harm you.” He stepped away from before, half transforming and flying off and entirely abandoning me in the middle of the wood, surrounded by supreme council knights. “Mia Drakes, you are under arrest in the name of the supreme council for setting a criminal dragon free from their entire prison for killing the Dragon Goddess.” One of the knights approached me and slapped silver-embedded ropes to arrest me. Afraid I would be able to break the metal cuffs at any point. “You are you be escorted immediately to the council for judgment.” They dragged me from the spot my familiar left me at and threw me through a magical portal with my Hazel behind me. We were standing side by side in front of the six chairpersons of the Supernatural Supreme Council, also known as the Supernatural Justice Council. They were all in charge of different groups and cast judgment after the head chairpersons pleaded their case against the accused. Luckily, that meant for Hazel, she would be set free. Not only because her only crime was protecting a friend, but the chairperson accused her was her great-grandfather, Oliver the First. He was also known as the Chairmen of Nocturnal Beings. As for myself, I was screwed. Not only was it my grandmother, the Chairwomen of Witches, my accuser, but her familiar and mate, Anacalagon Wang, Chairmen of Dragons. The chairman of Hybrids, Magnus Torres, would be involved. Still, I was related to one of the chairs, resulting in him being a tiebreaker if Anacalagon, a.k.a Andi, disagreed with Grandma Scarlett. Which was rare, and again meaning I was royally screwed. ‘Thank you.’ I thought mentally as I looked down at my feet. Even though I was before my judge, jury, and executors, I was grateful to have found my familiar powers. I wasn’t here to be banished away to the mortal world. I could face the council knowing I wasn’t damned to be human forever.
