Anthony had saw the slight differences in Jake since life slowly got back to "normal", but he knew from experience Jake had the potential to snap at any time, and after their history last year, he wanted to get back on any good side Jake might have, just to stay in the safe lane.
"Okay, I'll text you guys the details once I find out where Jake might wanna go," Erika said looking up briefly to smile at them, all quickly shooting her nervous smiles before her attention was back on her phone as she sauntered out of the room.
"Anthony-" Chance began saying a bit of worry to his voice, "Chill out, worse thing we can do is worry, and distance ourselves from Jake again," Anthony said, "This trip sounds like a disaster" Kade groaned as he sat himself down, "It might not be, you never know" Nick suggested trying to keep calm, "Sometimes you just get a gut feeling" Kade said darkly, before turning his attention back to some work.
Erika: Hi babe, missed you this morning, I know you're busy, I just wanted to ask if you wanted to go out with me later today? Couples spa??
Jakey/Dino/Hubby: Maybe.
Erika: I'll see you when you get home then babe. Is everything okay??
Jakey/Dino/Hubby: Everythings perfect, I'm in a meeting, bye.
Erika: See you later ❤!
"Mr.Paul, are these venues good?" Jake heard someone ask; Jake was in a room on the upper floors of a building in the city, the windows were big, the floor was hardwood, with a long hard wood table in the center, surrounded by velvet chairs, other business people in suits around, his manager sitting next to him, there was a huge screen up at the front, with different slides from sales, to states and the venues within them Jake would soon be using.
Jake was in a all black suit, from undershirt, tie and shoes, the only thing standing out with more color being the wedding ring on his finger promising him to Erika.
His jaw was slightly clenched a serious look on his face, his blonde hair and lines neat like usual, as he again began engaging in the meeting.
"I want them bigger, think thousands not hundreds" Jake spoke, his tone cold, "How do we get them Mr.Paul?" The man questioned, clearly already set on the buildings he'd picked, a bit rattled at Jake's switch up, "That's your job, if you can't get me what I want, take your stuff and file for unemployment" Jake sneered, making his manger; Kevin, slightly glance his way, before staring at the man in front of him, locking his fingers together on the table, knowing his client was dead serious about this man losing his job that quickly...
"Well..." He said, a little choked just standing there at the slides, thinking of all the work and pictures he wouldn't even get to show, "Well what? I didn't come here for you to waste my time, get back to work!" Jake snapped, making a few of the others swallow nervously, as the man uo front shut his slides off, "Yes sir" He responded calmly, sitting back down getting back on his laptop, as another from around the table stood to show what they'd acomplished, Kevin glanced up briefly, at Jake, watching him with a hand to the side of his head, finger tips resting there, while his other hand tapped against the wood of the table at him impatiently waited, Kevin began already looking for people to replace the first man messing up, knowing it could just as easily be his job if he didn't stay in things like this, Jake had a big project coming up, and wouldn't be taking anyone along on the journey with him, that he found incompetent.
Erika gently bit down on her lower lip, gaze glued to her husband, she missed Jake in more ways then one- but she tried to remind herself to pace when speaking to Jake about difficult situations, he handled everything differently and was easy to take things to heart and get defensive.
As the door started to open Erika's breath hitched, her teeth letting go of her lip, to be replaced with her nail tip, suddenly Jake rounded the corner coming in, now having his tie off, letting his suit coat open, "Jake!" Erika squealed, running up to him, Jake barely had time to ask her why she was so excited, before he was engulfed in a warm hug, "Your home!" Erika said happily, as she closed her eyes resting her head on his shoulder, Jake hugged her back, making Erika nuzzle him.
"You act like you haven't seen me in forever" Jake slightly mocked as they parted, "It feels like it," Erika responded before kissing him, Jake kissed back, but didn't bother deepening it like he normally did, "Are you ready to go?" Erika asked as Jake tossed his coat off, for someone else to pick up for him later, "Alright, let me shower first," Jake agreed, surprising Erika that he was actually agreeing to go straight out with her after work; Her and Jake were closer since everything they'd been through, but she knew her man, and Jake was still off to her, he was still Jake, but...
"Have you found out where were taking Jake for his birthday?" Kade came up whispering, startling Erika out of her thoughts, to notice Jake was gone now, "N-No, not yet, I'm gonna try to get it out of him at the spa" Erika told him, Kade nodded before walking away, he wasn't as much concerned with Jake's birthday as he was with not missing out on anything and getting Jake's wrath.
Jake soon came down the stairs once again, dressed in his merch, all black like his suit had been, "You my date tonight cutie?" Erika asked eyeing him, Jake rolled his eyes, as Erika got up walking out with him.
It was later in the evening now, a orange hue outdoors, a bit brisk out there when the wind blew, Jake and Erika got into Jake's lambo, and off they went, down their long drive way and into the busy street of LA, Jake with one hand rested on his doors window, the light shinning off his watch, the other hand on the wheel steering them.
