Arya
Consistent knocking on the door woke me up from my blissful sleep. Groaning, I push my duvet aside and stand up. Even then, knocking doesn’t stop.
“I’m coming!!! GOD,” I yelled, walking towards the door and opened it.
My mom stood there glaring at me, tapping her shoes.
“What?” My head slightly started to hurt. I hate getting up to a loud sound or someone yelling, my head starts to hurt and the whole day I’ll be grumpy.
“Why aren’t you up yet? It’s Saturday,” She said, pushing me aside and rushed inside.
“Exactly! It’s Saturday. Leave me alone, I want to sleep” I said, yawning, and moved towards my bed and fell head first, already getting comfortable.
“Get up Arya, don’t make me scream. Your brother-in-law’s whole family is coming today. His mother’s side, too” She said rummaging through my closet.
“Further brother-in-law” I couldn’t help but correct her.
“It’s the same thing. Get up, you need to get ready and look presentable. You can’t wear those baggy dresses and embarrass our family in front of them.” She scoffed, throwing my clothes left, right and center.
As y’all can see how much my mommy loveeesss me!
I sighed, lifting my face from the pillow.
“Then how about I skip the whole thing? If I’m not there, then how can I embarrass you guys?” I said sarcastically.
“I’m sure you will find a way then too, dear, now get up and get ready” came her fake sweet voice, making me roll my eyes. And I keep wondering how I could survive getting so much love from my parents.
I begrudgingly went inside my washroom, closing the door with a bang. Sometimes I feel like an unwanted stray who they keep to show other people how charitable they are, but that is all just for show.
I finished my business and went out with my towel around my body to see my mother sitting on my bed and as soon as she saw me, her lips pursed in displeasure. She hates my body, she thinks I’m voluptuous and not a stick figure like her favorite daughter.
“Wear this! And if I see you in any oversized dress in front of our guests, I’ll tell your father,” she said throwing the dress on my ottoman. Her words scrubbed me the wrong way. I hate it when she threatens me using our father. That’s the worst kind.
“Why do you care so much? It’s Myra’s in-laws who are visiting. She is the main character there, I’ll just be in the background,” I said, stumped at her attention. I don’t want it.
“Your sister knows how to dress and how to present herself. You, on the other hand, can never fit behind her” She said giving my body a look from head to top in disgust.
“And the reason I’m here is that if someone takes a liking to you from their family, then your wedding will be next” She said shaking her head, as if the thought of me getting married was ridiculous, yet she will try to succeed. And left my room, slamming the door.
I moved in front of my mirror in the towel and checked myself out. Am I really that bad looking? I get it, I have a little meat, but I feel like its there in all the right places. Signing, I glanced at the dress she picked. It’s a black skin-tight body-con dress that reaches my knees. It doesn’t show much skin, it has a sweetheart neck line but if I bend down, I’ll be giving others an eye-full of my cleavage, but the most uncomfortable part is that it takes the body shape perfectly. They can ogle at my ass and t**s leisurely.
I just want this brunch to end as soon as possible.

Vansh
We were seated in the backyard, which was vast, had enough shade to host a brunch. The property is quite nice, not so big but not so small either. I know the backstory of how Sumedh acquired this land. A lot of bloodshed was done and it was gruesome. My father has done some heinous things in his life but Sumedh is no different. They don’t see if they are women or kids, they just want what they want. I hate those kinds of people. My brother and I have a strict rule to never touch a woman or a kid, no matter the loss we need to bear.
Sumedh is busy talking to my mother’s side of the family. He has gone out and invited the whole family. I had no idea who he knew my that side of the family, but knowing what kind of a weasel he is, I’m not surprised.
My mother has 2 brothers, both of them are into finance and money-wise, they are excellent. Both of them have a good relationship with me, they know with money alone they can’t survive in this world. They are very meek and basically you can call them nerds. First uncle, Anand has 2 kids, Varun and Ritika while my second uncle, Devendra, had 2 sons, Harsh and Hitesh. In all four of them, I can tolerate Varun. He is just like his father, he loves numbers and money. He’s more respectable and sensible. Ritika is the sweetheart of our family. She is loved by all but she knows her future.
Harsh and Hitesh on the other hand, are trouble makers. Both want to get into our business, they want to be in mafia business. Both of them are reckless and pain in my ass. The number of times I had to beat them is too much to keep track of. Their father doesn’t care about them, he is happy to let them under my wing to keep them on track. Their mothers are too submissive to say anything. My family sure knows how to pick their women.
Once the whole introduction and greetings got over, everyone took their places. The only two people that were missing were my fiancée and her sister. I looked at Vihaan, to see him engrossed in his phone to care. I shifted my eyes towards the house to see if anyone was there. Sub-consciously, my eyes keeps searching for her one glimpse. And the thought makes me so grossed out that I push it aside.
“Searching for your bride-to-be?” Vihaan asked with a easy grin, moving his eyebrows. I sent him a sharp glare to shut him up.
As if she heard what he said, Sumedh’s wife spoke.
“Girls will be down, any second. You know how girls are, they take forever to get ready” She said with a fake cackles, making me cringe.
None of us laughed with her which made her awkwardly smile and turned towards the house to see both of her daughters walking towards us. Elder one had an over enthusiastic smile while the younger one behind her with an uncomfortable smile.
What the hell is she wearing!!!!
My jaw clenched looking at her in that black dress that hugged her body like a second skin. I could all my brothers staring at her body and salivating.
As she got near, her eyes moved up and caught mine. Seeing my glare, her uncomfortable smile turned into a grim one.
“Hi Vansh” came Myra’s voice which brought my attention from her sister.
“Hi” I said in a clipped voice.
I am pissed.
“Wow, you look so handsome” She said staring at my body as if I’m a piece of meat.
“Thanks” was all I said. I’m not in a mood to compliment her. Her dress is totally inappropriate for a family lunch, very revealing but still much better than her sister’s.
She awkwardly smiles and takes a seat in front of me and her sister takes a seat beside her and in front of Vihaan.
Myra continuous to introduce herself to my whole family like a social butterfly , while her sister gave her fake smile to everyone. Both are polar apart.
Sumedh stood up from my right and clinked on a champagne glass to get everyone’s attention.
“Hello everyone, thank you so much for joining us today. We are very happy to meet the whole family where my daughter is getting married into. We wanted to have get-to-know each other session before the wedding festivities began. Please don’t hesitate and enjoy the brunch” he ended with a big laugh and everyone smiled except me and a certain girl. Waiters came in with different type of foods and placed them on the table and started serving us.
It was a chaos, everyone started having small talks and my brother thought it was okay to poke a bear.
“Hi Arya, looking great” I could clock his smile, breaking all 32 of his teeth.
“Thank you” came her uncertain smile and went back to eating her food. She kept a toast in her mouth but her mother’s throat clearing stopped her in the mid and she dropped it back in her plate.
I frowned looking at that.
“Vansh, how’s business going?” I heard Myra’s voice. Turning towards her, I tried not to pay much attention to her sister.
“Great,” that’s all I said. And she started talking about her new idea to start a business and how it would help poor ladies at the country club who have nothing to do in their life, yet enough money to throw in without consequences get work. I tried my very best not to roll my eyes at her, but I could see her sister trying to contain her laughter.
My lips curled up at one side and stopped myself before I could do that.
This girl is bad for my existence.
And since there was no much drama, my i***t cousin went and opened his mouth.
Lord give me strength enough to not kill them today.
