“You’re not allowed to go inside, Miss Elena,” the doctor said, blocking the doorway.
“Please, I need to see my grandma,” I insisted.
“She’s sleeping,” he added
Frustrated, I quickly pulled out my phone and called my uncle.
“Yes, Elena? What’s the problem now?” he said as if I was disturbing his peace.
“Uncle, tell the doctor to let me in,” I pressed
He hung up. A few minutes later, the doctor answered a call—probably from him.
“You can go in,” he said at last, then excused himself.
Suddenly, Mariana arrived.
“What’s wrong?” she asked, noticing me still standing at the door.
“Are you done with the test?” I asked instead of answering.
“Yes. They told me to come back in a few minutes,” she replied softly.
