As Sophie lifted up her gaze she caught sight of a familiar face, it was the stranger whom they had encountered the day before.
They lock eyes as she senses that he recognizes her
Just as she's about to raise her hand to call his attention further, he cuts the gaze between them as he rolls his eyes with a sense of apprehension, keeping both her and Harper utterly Astonished. They share a brief moment of silent acknowledgment as they both go to their seat. However, the offense Olivia feels is quickly overshadowed by her joy in sitting together with Harper.
As they continue with their daily task, Olivia feels an urge to apologize to Ryan, she spots Ryan alone in the basketball court, as she decides to approach him to clear the air, tentatively greeting him with a friendly "hi," Ryan's aloof demeanor becomes evident as he barely acknowledges her presence, focusing instead on scoring his shot.
Undeterred, Olivia attempts to engage him in conversation, only to be met with curt responses and dismissive gestures. Frustrated by his coldness,
Olivia mutters to herself "how rude could he be, acting like he doesn't know me"
cut off guard with Olivia's statement Ryan went up to her as he closed the space within them with a mixture of annoyance and curiosity, He confronts her about her remark, saying to her I heard that you know? with an intimidating look in his eyes
without even a glimpse of fear in her she looks into his eyes asserting that it was because she voiced it out loud and would be a problem if he couldn't hear. Unimpressed by her explanation, he stated that he didn't know her, leaving the court to her, she then called him a liar, in spite of that he persisted not being bothered by her words,
I'm pretty sure you couldn't have forgotten such a heavenly slap
Olivia says with her hand crossed and a smirk on her face
Ryan turns back with a dark look in his eyes, as he recalls the humiliating slap he received from Olivia
she then smirks knowing she won, she walked up to him looking straight into his eyes as she waits for him to deny their encounter, she whispers into his ear, people like you don't need an apology,
While she resides, she pushes his hand away, unable to reach his shoulders due to his towering height
Unable to contain his rage any longer, Ryan lashes out, venting his frustration by aggressively hitting the basketball against the court.
Olivia feeling a mixture of relief and frustration at their unresolved confrontation. She knows that their brief exchange has only deepened the rift between them, leaving her to grapple with the lingering tension between herself and Ryan.
On the other hand, as Sophie and Ryan engaged in their tense exchange, oblivious to the world around them, a different drama was unfolding elsewhere.
As Harper emerged from the restroom, she noticed a group of the most handsome boys in the school huddled together, their voices hushed but filled with excitement. Unable to resist her curiosity, she drew closer, straining to catch snippets of their conversation
At first, the words were indistinct, muffled by the noise of the bustling hallway. Harper furrowed her brows in confusion, trying to make sense of what they were saying. As she inched closer, the conversation became clearer, and her heart sank as she realized the topic of discussion.
"Yeah, I know that," another voice chimed in, the tone less enthusiastic. "I mean Harper, look's nice and all, but she's nothing compared to Sophie. It's like a panda and a model!"
Harper's cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and she fought the urge to retreat back into the restroom. She felt a pang of insecurity gnawing at her, the stark comparison to her best friend hitting her harder than she anticipated. Despite her efforts to brush off their words, she couldn't shake the feeling of being constantly overshadowed by Sophie's beauty.
She heads to the cafeteria, seeking solace in the familiarity of the bustling surroundings.Lost in thought, Harper barely registers Sophie's approach until her friend is standing right in front of her, a bright smile lighting up her face. "Hey, Harper! Where have you been?" Sophie chirps, oblivious to the storm brewing within Harper's heart. Harper's response is curt, her tone tinged with frustration. "Just around," she mutters, her eyes flickering with unspoken turmoil. Sophie, caught off guard by Harper's abruptness, presses on
"Anyway," she continued, "I decided to speak to Ryan and resolve what happened the other day, but he was being so rude, I couldn't help it," Sophie explained, frustration evident in her voice. "But have you noticed his eyes? They're a bit blue, quite pretty, but that doesn't mean he should be so rude." Despite Sophie's attempt to divert the conversation to Ryan's physical attributes, Harper remained visibly irritated, her lips pressed into a thin line as she listened to her friend's words.
As Harper was getting increasingly annoyed by Sophie's obliviousness, she finally snapped, blurting out a frustrated "Stop it!" Sophie was taken aback by Harper's sudden outburst, her eyes widening in surprise. Before Sophie could respond, Mitchell, the school bully, approached their table, her presence casting a shadow over their conversation. With a smirk on her face, Mitchell leaned in, intruding on their space and causing Harper and Sophie to tense up, unsure of what to expect next.
Her voice dripping with curiosity and malice as she addressed Sophie directly.
"Hey, Sophie, I couldn't help but notice you and Ryan alone in the basketball court earlier. What's going on between you two?"
Sophie's eyes widened in surprise, caught off guard by Mitchell's sudden intrusion. She exchanged a quick glance with Harper, her mind racing, but doesn't struggle to come up with a response for Mitchell. Instead, she squared her shoulders, a hint of defiance in her gaze, and retorted, "Why do you care? It's none of your business."
But Mitchell wasn't about to let Sophie off the hook that easily. Her gaze turned steely as she leaned in closer, her voice dripping with disdain. "You think you can talk to me like that?" she sneered. "I'm the queen bee around here, and no one ever talks back to me." With a swift, calculated motion, she reached out and grabbed Sophie's tray of food, her eyes glittering with malice as she tipped it over, the contents cascading onto Sophie's lap in a cruel display of power.....
