The cold day went on, and they thought it would only be like that.
"Keep looking at me," Luther said intensely, rubbing her lip that was red and swollen from his kisses. "Every time I get near you, you hide. You put your uniform back on. Don't do that today. Just stay here with me."
"Luther," she whispered and her voice sounded real and shaky. A single tear fell down her pale cheek. "If you only knew who I really am... if you only knew what is going to happen..."
"I don't care," Luther interrupted. He looked at her with scary, honest eyes as he used his thumb to gently wipe away her tear. He leaned in so their foreheads touched, their breath mixing in the quiet room. "I don't care about my father's election. I don't care about the secrets you think you are hiding from the security companies. I know who you are. I saw it yesterday at the center, and I feel it now. You are the only real person in this whole house."
The words hurt more than any weapon Larcus Evans could use. He trusted her. He was being completely vulnerable to the woman who had come into his home to destroy his family's history. Their sad and complicated relationship was overwhelming—she was his protector, his lover, and the person who would ultimately destroy him.
Feeling overwhelmed by what he said, Sienna moved closer and kissed him hard and desperately. She kissed him to stop her painful thoughts. She kissed him to forget the river and the bridge, and to pretend, for a little while longer, that they were just a regular man and woman in a storm.
The fireplace was warm, but it was nothing compared to the intense tension between them. Luther held her waist tightly, breathing hard as he pulled his lips slightly away from hers.
"Not here," Luther said roughly against her lips, his voice sounding harsh and low. "Not on the floor of this house."
Before Sienna could think about what he said, Luther stood up, lifting her effortlessly into his arms. She wrapped her legs around his waist and held onto his wet t-shirt. He walked quickly through the library and opened a secret door that led straight to his bedroom.
He laid her down on the thick bed, and the dark sheets covered them as he lay on top of her, holding her down with his heavy body. Outside, rain hit his windows hard, but inside, they only heard each other's heavy breathing.
"Luther..." she whispered shakily. She gasped as his hand went under her jacket, sliding it off her shoulders until it fell to the floor.
"Don't move," Luther said sharply, looking deeply into her eyes while he quickly and impatiently unbuttoned her black silk shirt. "No more following rules. No more hiding because of my father's money. Just be with me."
When his bare hand touched her warm stomach and moved up toward her ribs, Sienna groaned softly and closed her eyes. The feeling was so strong that it broke through all her defenses. She reached up and grabbed his messy dark hair, pulling his face toward hers as they kissed deeply and passionately.
Every touch felt heavy with the sad, beautiful weight of their secrets. Luther took off his t-shirt, his strong chest shining in the dim light. His rough knuckles lightly brushed her skin as he felt the shape of her body. He leaned down and kissed her warmly from her jaw to her neck, finding the soft spot near her ear.
"Ah... Luther, please," she murmured. She breathed heavily and leaned back into him, moving her hands down his wide, hard shoulders to hold the strong muscles of his back.
"Please what?" Luther's voice was a low murmur against her skin. He lifted his head and looked into her eyes in the dark. "Look at me. Do not close your eyes. Let me see you."
"I am looking," she whispered, her voice cracking with raw emotion as she pulled him close. "I am right here."
He moved closer and rested his forehead against hers. When he spoke, his lips touched her skin, making her shake. "Then you know I can't let you leave. Not today. Not after everything." Luther paused. "Not even now."
"Don't—Nn," she gasped softly as his hands moved down to hold her hips firmly but gently. "Don't ever let go."
He held her hips firmly to steady her, but he was careful not to pull too hard, letting her decide what to do.
"I won't," he said softly, as if he had made a promise without meaning to.
Sienna let out a soft, shaky laugh that turned into a sigh. "You say that like you really mean it."
"I do."
A tense pause, where neither of them moves away.
Her voice dropped, softer now. "Then don't stop."
He breathed out slowly, touching his forehead to hers. "You are more dangerous when you say things like that."
She moved her hands up to pull him closer until they touched. "Stop thinking."
Another beat—then he did.
"Ahh—" Sienna moaned, quietly at first and then more deeply, her voice shaking.
His hands moved over her body as if he were learning every part of it. Their bodies moved together as if they understood each other.
"Mmm—" Sienna cried out when she felt his tongue on her breast.
"f**k! Sienna," he said while licking and sucking her, holding her breast with one hand.
"Luth—" Sienna could not even speak as their bodies moved together quickly.
Luther drew the kiss back from her neck to her lips again. Her lips were parted and flushed with pleasure.
Sienna pressed her hand hard against his back as Luther pushed harder. "Mm—Ahh..." she made a loud sound in the room.
"Sienna/Luther," they called each other in hushed, sensual tones.
"Luther...yes... like that—" She held him tighter. "Yes... that—keep—Luther!" She called his name pleadingly. Out of breath, she held him close, feeling the pleasure and warmth of their bodies.
Luther exhales sharply, grounding himself, holding her hips firmly with his hands.
"f**k," He said he was out of breath and was kissing Sienna's neck again.
When the room became very quiet, Luther did not move away. He stayed near her and held her in his arms in the dark. He put his head close to hers, and his breathing became calm.
"Don't leave when the morning comes," Luther murmured. He held her a little tighter, as if he could stop her from leaving him in the dark.

The cold morning light in the city shone through the heavy clouds, making bright lines across Luther's bedroom.
When Luther rolled over, his hand reached out for the warmth of the person in his bed. Instead, he felt only cold, empty sheets. He opened his eyes quickly. Her head had left a mark on the pillow, but Sienna was gone. The jacket and black shirt she had left on the floor were also gone.
He got out of bed, put on a shirt and pants, and walked quickly out of his room, his steps making loud sounds on the floor.
When Luther opened the big doors of the dining hall, he felt the heavy pressure of the Vaughan political group immediately.
Arthur Vaughan sat at the top of the long wooden table, holding a tablet with a hot cup of black coffee next to him. Larcus Evans stood just behind him, looking at new survey results.
And there, standing perfectly rigid against the far wall by the terrace doors, was Sienna.
She was wearing her uniform again. Her jacket was buttoned up, her hair was styled in a short, neat cut, and her dark sunglasses covered her eyes. She looked like a professional security guard, showing no sign of the woman who had called his name in the dark only hours before.
Inside, Sienna felt total chaos. Her heart beat so hard against her chest that she feared Larcus would hear it. When Luther held her like she was everything to him, he changed her. She could no longer hide her true feelings. Every part of her wanted to stop fighting, walk to him, and feel his touch again.
'Stop it, Margot!' she thought and scolded herself. 'That isn't love! You were just carried away because of what happened last night.' Trying convince herself.
As soon as Luther walked in, he looked straight at her and ignored his father. He looked at her face trying to catch a single trace of the warmth they had shared, but she stood there very stiff and cold.
"You are late, Luther," Arthur said while looking at his tablet. His voice sounded calm but firm. "Sit down. We have only twenty minutes before the news reporters arrive at the city center."
Luther sat down slowly opposite his father, still looking at Sienna's face. "I thought the group wouldn't leave until the afternoon. Did the staff suddenly come back to life?"
"Larcus took care of it," Arthur said coldly, putting his tablet down to look at his son. "The other side is trying to use the rumor about the warehouse shooting from two days ago. They say our security company is bad at its job. Tonight, we must show that everything is under control. You will stand next to me at the company press conference so we look like we are working together."
"I have my own cases to handle at the local legal aid center today, Father," Luther said. "I am not standing on a stage to act like a perfect prince for your investors."
Larcus Evans stepped forward and looked closely at Luther and Sienna. "The security team has already checked the city route, Luther. Nilsson will be your main driver. You must go to the conference, or the party will stop the money for your small shelter in the lower district by tomorrow morning. It is a simple deal."
Luther's jaw clenched and gripped the table edge hard. He looked at Sienna, but she stared straight ahead, refusing to look at him in front of the predators.
"Fine," Luther said, standing up so quickly that his chair made a loud noise on the floor. "Let's get this started."
