Daniel carried Betty on his back and hurried past her. His broad shoulders flexed with taut muscles; every line of his inverted triangle physique was demonstrated. Serena had embraced this figure from behind countless times, feeling that unique sense of safety that belonged only to her. Now, that sense of safety had been given by him to another woman. When they brushed past each other, he did not even glance at her and only dropped several sentences. "Betty twisted her ankle badly. I'm taking her to the hospital. Take a cab home by yourself."
