MAEVE POV   The heat didn’t come from outside, but burned inside my lungs. Every time I inhaled the air around us, my sanity seemed to melt away. Alaric was still pinning me down. I could see sweat dampening his temples, his forehead glistening under the blue crystal light. His eyes gleamed with a deep, wild gold. I could feel the aura of desire radiating from him, and it dragged me into the same fever. “Alaric, let me go,” I whimpered. But even my own voice sounded like a lie. “Reeve, or whoever you are,” Alaric growled low, vibrating right in front of my lips.
