MAEVE POV
The sound of the bell instantly pulled our attention away, and I immediately broke free from Alaric. This was my chance to get away from him.
“That must be an important announcement. I have to go!” I said.
Alaric tried to stop me, but he winced as pain pulsed through his body. A part of me wanted to help him, but if I stayed there, I wouldn’t be able to escape. I rushed out of his room, even as I heard his desperate shout echo behind me.
Forgive me, Alaric… I can’t reveal myself to you. Not now!
I ran straight toward the hall, following the other students who were heading there as well. When I entered, Headmaster Horgus was already waiting.
