MAEVE POV “Turn off the lights!” I said quickly. Alaric, who had been just about to open my linen shirt, froze. His eyes blinked, confused by my unreasonable request. But that was the only thing that came to mind, so Alaric wouldn’t see the bandage wrapped around my chest. “Then how am I supposed to treat it?” I swallowed, realizing the next thing I said would annoy Alaric. “Then take me to Dorian’s laboratory.” “I’m taking you to a Healer.” “No. Your choices are either to turn off the lights or take me to Dorian.” Alaric grunted. He got off the bed and flipped the light switch. The room went completely dark, but I knew Alaric could still see in the darkness.
