(Sebastian) I drove three blocks, then pulled over. I sat with the engine running. My hands stayed on the wheel while I made myself understand what I'd just done. I'd left a contract meeting. I'd seen her car turn onto her street. Instead of driving home like a man with any sense, I'd parked. I told myself I was only making sure she got inside. Then a man had his hand on her arm, every rule I'd built my life around went quiet, and I was out of the car before I'd decided to be. That should have worried me more than it did.
