IVORY
Death. What would it be like to die? To end this misery once and for all. Would it be peaceful? Would the Moon Goddess receive me with open arms and without a wolf? These were the questions I asked myself when I was little. When life turned upside down for me. Just at 10 years old I lost my father and not long after that, my mother was murdered. Why? I still don’t know but I intend to find out.
I belong to the Golden Moon Pack, the pack now led by Alpha Bryce. My treacherous brother is their Beta. And me, I’m a lantern or an orb. I was born without a wolf, she never surfaced. I planned to leave this hell hole when I turned 15, when my wolf would make its appearance but that never happened. Now I am the packs ‘slave’, I am below an Omega and that is because they say my family were traitors.
If they were, I wouldn’t know, I was just 10 and my brother 13. He was the reason my mother was killed. He told on her and other pack members of her plans. As far as I could remember, her only plans were to leave the pack and go with my grandmother Jade. I remember her saying it was dangerous for us to be here. To be around greedy werewolves. I didn’t understand what she meant then, but I do now.
I just turned 17, today to be exact, the age when a werewolf finds their Mate. My Mate, I hope he’s a good person and treats me kindly and maybe saves me from this place. I hope he’s able to take me somewhere far, far away.
“You dumb b***h! Get up!” My brother, Beta Ethan says.
He had hit me for burnt toast that I didn’t even put in the toaster. I’m currently on the ground, holding my cheek. I’m not strong like they are but I am fast. They just don’t know that. I never told anyone. To them, I’m practically human.
“I didn’t do it. I literally just got here.” I said calmly.
When the time comes, I’ll kill every one of these assholes but for now. I’ll endure any pain inflicted on my body.
“I don’t want to hear excuses. Now get the hell up.” He said while gritting his teeth.
I got up slowly and he raised his hand to strike me again but Alpha Bryce walked in with the pack slut, Cora in. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not slut shaming the girl but she hates me and I never did anything to her.
“What’s going on here?” Alpha Bryce asked with a raised brow.
“She burnt the toast Alpha.” Beta Ethan said.
“Even she can’t do that. Pathetic.” Cora chimed in.
I raise my brow to her but didn’t say anything. Alpha Bryce looked at me and in his eyes I saw adoration. What the hell. He hates me, why is he looking at me like that? Creep.
“My office Ivory. Now!” Alpha Bryce said.
I walked towards his office while he walked right behind me. When we got there, I entered and he locked the door behind him. Oh no!
I stood there and waited while he stared at the door. What the heck was going on with him?
“You don’t feel it.” He stated more than asked as he turned to face me.
“Um, what?” I asked dumbly.
He took two big steps and cupped my cheek. I looked at him with wide eyes. Now I understood what he said. He’s my mate. My biggest bully is my mate.
“You still don’t feel it?” He asked again and I shook my head not knowing how to process all of this. All I really felt towards him was hatred and I didn’t really care if he rejected me. I hoped he did.
His nostrils flared in anger, he took a step back and went around the desk. He sat on his chair and stared into space.
I cleared my throat, “Alpha, are we mates?” I asked, just to confirm.
He was looking at me but it felt like he was looking through me, like he didn’t really see me.
“I, Alpha Bryce Smith of the Golden Moon Pack, reject Ivory Jade Lux as my mate and Luna.” He said, he clutched his side but I felt nothing. His statement answered my question.
“I, Ivory Jade Lux accept your rejection, Alpha Bryce Smith.” I retorted and walked out. There was no pain for me but as I closed the door to his office, I heard a crash and a painful howl followed. Good, I’m glad it hurts.
My brother, Cora and a couple of warriors ran towards the hall where his office was located. I ignored all of them and gathered my things. I was going to walk out of here and no one was going to stop me.
