Commander's strength is something else

Vivian I stepped to the side of the ring and switched on the monitor used to track students in the ring. It monitors body vitals and energy levels, just to make sure that no one dies, but I wanted to see up close what my team was capable of. And well, okay, I also want to see Lucien in action. I did not have the chance to see him fight James back at the academy. So this was a make-up opportunity and then some, because all three of the other members were a lot more skilled in combat than James. "Come on, pretty boy, let's see what you can do." Andrew said, as he stood in the front, leaving Kevin and Rebecca behind him at the very back. They all stood loose and confident, sure of themselves, while Lucien looked like he was ready to punch them all in one hit. He kept looking at me every few moments with this big bright smile on his face, that reminded me of an overly excited puppy and that made my insides tingle in a weirdly warm way. "Lucien, please remember that they are our team members, and we need them to be healthy for the missions." "Yes, darling... I will do my best to be gentle." The smile on his face got even bigger and brighter, not that I thought it was possible. "Oh, as if he could." Andrew did not get to finish his sentence as he was knocked out first, taking Kevin with him, whose hand landed on Rebecca. All three of them stumbled to the ground with a loud crash. My eyes were fixated on him the whole time. When Lucien moved, it was more like a shimmer that you could hardly catch with your eyes, he was so fast and strong. There was not even a hair out of place when he was finished, and he was out of the ring and next to me immediately. "Look, I won and they are fine. Can I get my kiss now?" I could not help myself as a little giggle escaped me and leaned into him, moving his mask to the side and capturing his lips for a short kiss. The kiss was meant to be just a soft peck, but it grew into something deeper really soon. Without me even noticing it, his hands were around me, and he pressed me into the desk behind me. His hungry hands traveled down my body as his lips devoured mine. We were lost in the kiss, but it was stopped by Rebecca's loud cry for help. "KEVIN, GET OFF ME... VIVIAN, HELP ME!" Panting hard, I pulled back from Lucien. Both of our eyes met for a moment. They were dark with lust and maybe even something deeper, but it was all chased away by another cry of distress from Rebecca. Pushing away the heat that had now risen in my body, I pushed Lucien's hands away and stepped aside. "Coming." I answered her, my voice sounding a lot more shaky than I would like to admit. My mind was still foggy from the kiss as I jumped into the ring and pushed the heavy bear hand from the cat hybrid. "Thank you." She whispered as she jumped to her feet. "Wow, little puppy, that was impressive." Her voice was more of a purr than a real sentence. The flirty smile on her face was directed at Lucien, and I did not like it all. I had to contain a territorial growl that had started to rise in my chest. What the hell? Since when did I get territorial like this over anything? Not to mention Lucien, when I knew that he did not belong to me, that all this was just temporary? I was happy that Rebecca was leaning over the two other boys, slapping their faces lightly, trying to get them awake, so she did not notice my silly little reaction to her. "Kevin, buddy, are you alive here? I would be so pissed if you died from one punch from the little puppy after all the hard work we put into getting you to team with us, and now you go die on me..." Her slaps got a bit heavier and the bear hybrid slowly blinked awake. "What the hell happened?" He slowly rose and sat up. "You got hit by our new commander, Vivian's little puppy." For a few seconds, he just blinked, clearly still dazed from the hit he got. His eyes turned to Lucien who was standing at the side of the room where I left him, with his fingers slowly tracing his lips and all his attention concentrated on me. "Well... that was wow... I had never felt power like that. I'm happy that he was on our team... but I guess we should expect someone like him to be Vivian's partner." Heat rushed to my cheeks as I leaned over Andrew and as I was about to touch his cheek, Lucien was next to me, taking my hand away from the other man and slapping him awake himself. As Andrew's eyes fluttered open, we both leaned back and Lucien leaned into my ear to whisper. "Do not touch other men." The light growl of dominance in his voice was something else... it hit me strongly and went straight to my lower belly as well as my heart. But before I could answer him, Andrew fully sat up and started talking. "What the hell just happened? Am I dead?" "Nope, you just got by our little puppy commander." Rebecca said with so much pride in her voice. "How... how can that little thing produce this sort of hit? I didn't even see him make any move. One moment he is standing in front of me, drooling over Vivian, the next I am on my back... how is that even possible?" Well, I could tell them that he is probably the most powerful hybrid in this galaxy, but that would expose him too much, and I have no wish anyone knew his real identity. But Rebecca saved me once again by answering him for me. "Well, what do you expect, Vivian, to be with some weakling like James again? Especially when she chose him herself? He is a great match power wise to her, and he will be a great commander in our team. We will most definitely ace this test." She was almost jumping with excitement, and I felt Lucien's hands sneak their way around my waist. Rebecca's words made Andrew's cheeks blush with embarrassment as he slowly rose to his feet. "I guess you are right, and it means that we now have two aces in our team. With Lucien and Vivian, not even Mathews' team could win against us." "Yeah, Lucien could probably wipe the floor with them on his own." Kevin added with a low, full-chested chuckle. "Okay, now that we are acquainted with everyone's powers and we no longer have any questions about power levels. We can begin the preparations. Let's see everyone's numbers to begin with." I said as I stepped away from Lucien and walked to the monitor, and pulled out the summary of everyone's status. I felt everyone walking after me. Lucien, of course, was glued to my side the whole time, touching me. "Okay, Rebecca, your power levels are the lowest in the team, but as a navigator, that does not affect your ability to do your tasks, but it would be great if you could fight if worse came to worst." "I will show the little kitty how to fight.” Andrews said teasingly, shining his usual smile at the cat hybrid. "That won't be needed, I can take care of myself." She said confidently, and I nodded at her. "Okay, if you say so. Now Kevin, your physical strength is great and attack..." "Why does the puppy commander's score say it is inconsistent? I am sure that these machines are super accurate, except if maybe..." Andrew started talking with his face completely confused, but he broke off and Rebecca finished for him. "Except if it's immeasurable or something is wrong with it." The vibration of the tablet computer they handed out after we registered the teams distracted everyone and, to my luck, the conversation ended there as everyone stared at the tablet computer in my hand. "We will have to pick this conversation up another time, because we have the pairing for our first match... you have to be kidding me..."
