Vivian
But there were no more surprises.
We got the artifact just by simply walking up to it and taking it.
For a second after Andrew grabbed it, we all stood frozen waiting for something to happen like in some sort of movie, but nothing happened. So, after that, we moved back out of the room the same way we went in, but the other team was nowhere to be seen when we walked out. The small puddle of blood where James stood told me that they might have retreated back to their ship to deal with their commander and the fact that they failed the mission in the privacy of their space craft.
None of us said anything about it, we just moved in the same formation as fast as we could, wishing to get out of here as fast as we could. We moved fast, feeling exhausted from all that happened and all the messed-up things we faced, so no one had any energy left. Even Lucien stayed quiet and just sat in his commander's chair in the middle of the spacecraft. The rest of us strapped in and I set the course to return to the main base, this time using the safe path, so it would be easier to flay back.
To no one's surprise, we faced no further challenges and we landed safely at the docking station. The moment we heard the loud click of our space craft attaching itself to the docking station, indicating that the mission was over, but no one moved from their seats.
The heaviness of everything that happened still hung heavily in the room and no one had the energy to do anything about it.
Lucien's voice broke the silence as he slowly rose from his seat.
"Okay team, let's get some rest. You all did great today. So rest up because tomorrow we will have an even harder test."
His voice pulled everyone out of their shock states and slowly everyone made their way out of the ship. Andrew was standing close to Rebecca and only now did I notice that she was gripping her hand tightly to her stomach.
"Rebecca..."
I started saying, but she just shook her head at my question.
"It's fine, I just landed on it in the wrong way."
"You should get that checked out."
I whispered to her, feeling concern rising in my chest.
"It's okay, I don't..."
"I will take her to the medics."
Andrew said with a completely different determination in his voice. Gone was the flirty cocky look on his face and in his place was a serious, determined look that reminded me a lot of how the ninth prince looked when he made a decision.
"I don't need medics."
Rebeca whined as Andrew placed a stiff hand behind her and guided her out of the space ship.
"Yeah, yeah and you do not flinch, every time you try to move your hand. Now shut up and go."
It was quite cute to see how concerned he was for her. I turned to Kevin who was still sitting on his chair.
"Are you okay? You should also get checked out by the medics. You took a big blow back there. Do you need help getting to them?"
The bear hybrid just shook his head.
"No, I'm good, just tired. I will go to them as soon as I have enough energy to move."
I sent a sad smile to him as he slowly rose to his feet.
"See you tomorrow, Vivian."
"See you tomorrow Kevin."
I answered him as I watched him leave the space craft. As I heard the doors close after him, I had no other choice but to face the only other person left on the ship, but when I turned around he was nowhere to be found.
What the hell? When did he leave? Where did he go?
Slowly, I made my way out of the ship as I started to walk to my room, hoping that once inside I could finally relax under the spray of warm water, but before I could even walk deeper into the room, this uneasy feeling that I had to do something.
Frustrated, I quickly washed myself and sat on the bed with my head wet. Rebecca had not yet returned, so I was more or less alone. The uneasy feeling that something was wrong still lingered in me and I could not understand where it was coming from when it hit me.
There is only one other thing that could make me feel like this and so unexpectedly... it was Lucien.
Worry, pure hot worry filled my stomach as I rose to my feet. Everything in me screamed to get to him, gut wrenching worry fill me and I slowly made my way to the door.
As I walked to his room a few times now, it was a lot easier to find it. As I expected, Richard was waiting outside of the door.
"Miss Vivian? Prin... Lucien is not expecting you or anyone else.
I nodded, but shined him my falsest smile.
"Sorry he left something on the space ship. I came to bring it to him."
For a few moments he looked confused if he should let me in.
"Leave it to me, I will hand it over and I give him it."
"NO. I need to be the one to give it to him."
He looked ready to deny me again when I took a deep breath.
"Do you want me to tell Lucien that you did not let me come to him? He is still in heat so I can only guess how he will react when he hears that you did not let me see him."
Richard swallowed hard as he nodded and stepped aside to let me in. He knew that Lucien would go crazy if he heard that Richard refused me something like seeing him.
"Fine, go in, but be quick and careful. He came back in a poor mood."
Slowly I nodded as I started walking in the direction of the door. I stopped right to it and took a deep breath to prepare myself for what ever I was about to get into.
After a deep breath, I opened the door, I came into the room that was empty and very tidy.
There was not even one piece of clothing out of place. My eyes stumbled upon the uniform he wore today and I could not stop myself from taking it and bringing it to my nose. His scent filled my lungs and I could not stop the little whine leaving my mouth. The moon, he smelled so divine...
As I was about to pull back the s**t a door to my right opened up and steam filled the room. Lucien stood in the doorway, his hair wet and messy as his eyes slowly raked over the room and settled on me.
"Vivian?"
His confused voice drew my attention to his face.
"Hi..."
"why... why are you here?"
"I was... I was... I wanted to check on my commander to see if the mission was not too hard on him."
A bright big smile bloomed on his face as he settled into.
"Thank... thank you, I'm fine, I just need a good night's sleep and some food."
These words were followed by the loud rumble of his stomach. My eyes shot to his upper body and only now did I notice that he was in deed just naked after out of the shower. His eyes read my face, but then my eyes traveled lower and spotted the damage on his naked upper body. His body and face got damaged in the explosion and while fighting. The most serious ones were on his chest and they looked really mean.
"Lucien..."
