As I pulled out my phone, I saw that I had four missed calls and ten messages from Lucien.

Darling.

Darling, where are you?

Darling, why are you ignoring me?

Darling, please stop ignoring me ;(

Darling, please.

Whatever I did… I'm sorry.

I will do anything to make it up to you.

Please.

I'm coming to your room. Please let's talk.

I will be there in a few minutes, and I'm not leaving until you talk to me.

My eyes skimmed over the messages and I realized that I was right, he was indeed in his heat again.

This was way too fast to be normal.

Before I could answer his text, Rebecca appeared next to me.

"What did the trainer say?"

"That we can't be a four-person team. The rules say that it has to be a four-person team and there is no going around it."

"Oh no, what will we do? Do... do... do you want to try with Paul again?"

It was clear that she was just as desperate as I was.

"No, I have already registered with the trainers."

"What? How?"

"I found another person to join."

"What? Who? I thought that we talked to everyone, and I'm sure that everyone already had teams."

"Yes, only Paul was left, but... but I have the fifth person. Don't worry about it. Can you please arrange a meeting room for us tomorrow, so we can work on a plan for the first task? And maybe let Kevin and Andrew know about it too?"

Still confused about the fifth member of our team, but she nodded.

"Sure, I will check with the trainers and I will go talk with the boys."

"Great thanks, I will go talk to the fifth member."

With a confused look on her face, she started walking back to the learning center as I made my way to my room. Just as I expected, I saw Lucien standing in the hall, his fluffy ears and tail out. It was like he sensed me approaching, because his head turned in my direction and like a little puppy that had seen its owner after a long time, he jumped and ran in my direction. Before I could react, his lips crashed against mine and we both almost toppled over. His arms wrapped around me, and he kissed me like a thirsty man that hasn't had a drop to drink for the last few weeks.

His kiss was demanding and lustful. I had no choice but to follow along. As the initial shock wore off, I stopped him and pulled back a little.

"Lucien stop."

In a bit of a shaky voice, I said as I pulled back from him.

With hands on his shoulders, I pushed him away.

"No, Lucien stop!"

This time my voice was even sterner, and it worked because he froze, his ears flattened to his head bowed down, his tail wrapped around his leg.

"D... darling..."

He whispered, and I could see his bottom lip shake as he released a little whimper. Instantly, I reached out and pulled him to my chest. Without any hesitation, he leaned onto me and buried his face in my chest as another whimper left his lips.

"Shhh... calm down."

I tried to soothe the whimpering fox. s**t. I should have known better. He was so sensitive in this state, and any harsher words would cause a meltdown.

Taking a few deep breaths, I held his trembling body. After a few minutes, he finally calmed down, but stayed in my arms.

"Why are you angry with me, my love?"

I took a few deep breaths, trying to find the right words to say that would not send him over the edge too fast.

"I'm not angry, it's just complicated."

Clearly confused by what I said, he pulled back, so he could look at my face.

"What's complicated?"

"Umm... us... this... it's complicated."

"But I love you and I want to be with you... should it be all that matter?"

"Well, I guess... under normal circumstances... but everything is complicated for us."

He stared at me for a few moments, and I could see how his heat-hazed brain tried to decipher what I had just said.

"If it's about me being the emperor's son and you not being good enough for my family, it doesn't matter to me and my family has already accepted you as my partner... Well, my mother and my father does not really care what I do."

His confused face was so adorable that I did not have it in me to argue with him right now, so instead I decided to change the subject.

"We can talk about it later, now I want to ask you to do something for me."

His tail jumped back in the air as well as did his ears. He looked super excited about the possibility of doing something for me.

"Tell me what you want? I will do everything... I will buy you whatever you want... I get the stars and the moon out of the sky and place them in your lap if you ask me to..."

I could not help myself, but smile at the overexcited little creature in front of me.

"It's nothing that dramatic."

He shook his head with a determined look on his face.

"I don't care what you ask for, it will be yours."

With a little chuckle, I told him.

"For my final part of training here, I need to form a team and there were no commanders left, so could you please be part of my team? If you don't join us, I will fail…"

I know that asking in this state was a bit unfair because he was not in his right mind, but I was desperate.

"Of course, I would love to be on your team. It will give us more time to spend together."

The bright smile on his face sent butterflies to my lower belly, and I could not help myself as I leaned in to give him a soft kiss on his cheek.

"Thank you."

I whispered right next to his cheek, and I saw lust shine in his dark eyes. He moved in my direction and I knew what he was going to do, but I stopped him.

"No, Lucien, we can't."

"But why?"

"I'm not any sort of contraception, and the morning after pill almost killed me. It messed up my hormones so badly that you were the only one to help me through it... please... I can't go through that again."

Horror filled his brain, as I guess memories of the night before filled his mind. He released a little painful cry as he reverted to himself.

"Sorry... so sorry."

He cried as he sank to his knees in front of me.

"Please forgive me for the pain I caused you... please forgive me..."

With a deep sigh, I kneeled next to him.

"It's okay, Lucien. It was not intentional... it just happened... and you helped me through it, so it's okay... I just don't want to repeat it again."

His puppy dog eyes sparkled with tears as he nodded.

"Now let's get you to bed."

"Can't I spend the night here?"

"No, I have four roommates here, and you have your own suit."

"But I don't remember where it is."

I could not help but roll my eyes at his cute request.

"Okay, let's go."

He almost jumped up like a little kid when I agreed. We made our way through the maze of halls and Lucien was wrapped around me the whole time, even his tail was wrapped around my waist. It was quite cute. When we stopped in front of his door I was about to turn around and leave, but he refused to let me go, and I did have a very hard time telling him no, so I agreed to stay the night with him, but just to sleep.

As we laid down in his bed, it reminded me of the night I spent here with the ninth prince, and a question surfaced in my mind that I could not get rid of.

"Lucien, I have a question."

"Yes, my love?"

"Ummm, why are your heats so strong? I have never seen anyone's personalities change so much during their heat?"
