I turned to look at Adrien, who was peacefully sleeping beside me, and I gently caressed his head. The sight of him filled me with a bittersweet mix of love and sorrow.
Then, my gaze shifted to the other side where a picture frame rested on the bedside table. It contained a cherished photograph of Papa Beau, Adrien, and me, captured during a picnic trip we took together to celebrate Adrien's first birthday.
A sad smile crept onto my lips as I reached for the picture frame, tracing the outlines of their faces with my fingers.
