Chapter 21

Nikolai “Arrange for the trip, Atticus. I want to make a little visit to the werewolf world, it’s been a while since I last visited the wolves, maybe this time around I’ll return with better slaves.” I mumbled and he nodded. Those beasts, they joined the humans in fighting against us and I would always derive pleasure in their suffering. They would writhe in pain, scream and cry profusely, they would feel the same thing I felt when they get separated from their family. They would grieve for years, nothing compared to the grief I’ve carried for decades all because of their greed. “What about the beast? And his w***e?” I inquired. “The beast has been asleep for two days now, so it’s assured that he wouldn’t be awake for at least five more days. The slave has returned to the east wing, she’s currently doing her duties as a slave.” He replied and I nodded. “Have her watched at all times, she’s not allowed to kill herself, not when I still have a lot in store for her. I’ll be leaving in a few hours…” “Alpha! There’s trouble!” A guard screamed as he rushed into my chambers. I was furious already while Atticus had his sword drawn, ready to slay on my command. The guard fell to his knees, panting heavily. “The beast… He’s awake… He’s on the farm now, devouring Cyrus.” He announced and I bolted to my feet immediately, dashing out with Atticus behind me. I rushed into the fields, rage gnawing at my insides to find Vladimir standing on the spot, his eyes baring rage as he stared at the lifeless Cyrus whose body was scattered around. I growled, baring my fangs at the beast but he did nothing, he didn’t attack back like he’d do before, I snarled again, ready to fight him if he tried to attack any other person but it felt like Cyrus was his target because he turned around. I had never seen him that calm, he wasn’t growling and trying to kill people in his sight. He bolted off, running in the direction of his tower. It was strange, how he had escaped without being seen and stopped before he made it here was a mystery. There was just too much going on, the beast had changed and it was all because of the human. Everyone whispered and stepped back with fright, the human was at one side, her clothes disheveled, hair scattered with a few marks on her face. I frowned, wondering about the bastard who did it to her. “Find out what happened here. Dismiss all the slaves and have the slave masters see me!” I barked and that human turned around, trying to dash away. “Bring her to the west wing.” I ordered Atticus who nodded. I turned around, trying to control my rage. Once inside the balance, I clenched my fists as I paced around. The slave masters all feel to their knees, heads bowed as they waited for me to speak. “What happened?” Atticus rushed forward, whispering everything into my ears and I scoffed. “How dare that bastard try to touch her!” I snapped, my lycan suddenly enraged for reasons known to him alone. “We… We’re sorry Alpha…We tried to warn Cyrus, we told him not to tamper with what belongs to the beast but he was adamant.” They whispered with fear and I scoffed. “You will never touch any slave that is unwilling or that hasn’t been given to you.” I ordered they nodded hastily. “Make a degree in the pack house and make sure no bastard touches the human, if anyone dares lay hands on her, behead him without hesitation.” I instructed Atticus who nodded. “Leave!” I barked and they bowed their heads in gratitude before dashing out. “Alpha… Should I instruct the guards to start the burial preparations?” Atticus asked and I scoffed. The death was befitting, no one is allowed to touch the human until I say so. “Toss his body at the outskirts, he’s not worth the stress.” I replied and Atticus nodded as he turned around. “Send the human in.” I ordered. Moments later, the human walked inside, her head bowed as she knelt on the ground. Dried up tears were at the sides of her hair and she was filled with terror. “What did you do?” I demanded and her eyes widened with horror as she shook her head. “I… I did nothing but protect myself, your majesty.” She replied and I scoffed. “Not to Cyrus, he deserved the death he got. What did you do to the beast?” I demanded and she paused for a moment, stunned. “T… The beast? I have done nothing to the beast. There’s no way I’d have done anything without being caught.” She pointed out and I scoffed as I stepped down from my throne, making the fear in the room increase rapidly “The beast is protecting you. The beast has escaped from the tower thrice all because of you.” I watched her carefully for a reaction but all she felt was astonishment. “Th… That’s not true… The beast… the beast only escapes when he’s furious.” She lied and I scoffed. “The first escape was with Cyrus, the second with Astrid and now the beast has killed Cyrus because of you. The beast is different, that’s not the beast I’ve had locked up for decades.” I snarled and she just stared at me with disbelief. It was slowly dawning on her that I was saying the truth and she buried her head. “Undo whatever you did to the beast or your body is the next that’ll get thrown out of this town. I know you’re trying to use the beast to fight me but I’ll assure you of one thing, human. Your plans failed years ago, it’ll fail again.” I promised, my eyes locked with hers.
