I was thrown on the rough ground, making me wince as I crawled back, remaining on the ground as several options flashed in my head.
Was he going to defile me? Was he going to inflict me again? Was he going to kill me?
My lips quivered more the moment he rose, moving around me in a circle as he watched me closely.
“How did a mere human like you survive my disease?” He fisted my hair, making me cry out in agony.
His grip tightened as he made me look at his dark, vicious eyes. His fangs protruded, it was like that of a vampire and I went rigid, scared he might bite me and suck my blood dry.
I had heard tales about Lycans turning anybody into their blood hosts and how it left their victims almost lifeless.
“What are you? Are you a hybrid.” He demanded and I shook my head negatively, making him grab my hair more.
“Use your words, human!” He thundered, his voice like thunder in my ears.
“N… No… King.” I rasped as fast as I could and he let go of my hair, making me drop to the ground.
“Tell me, why didn’t he kill you? Why did he heal you, he couldn’t heal our mates but he could heal a mere human… Just how cruel is fate.” He muttered, laughing cruelly, his voice dripping with rage and pain.
“No… No king.” I stammered, my trembling fingers intertwined.
“Never forget your place, you’re an animal, you’re nothing! I can kill you but I won’t give you an easy death, you’ll writhe in pain and beg for death endlessly.” He vowed and I swallowed, breathing heavily while nodding, unable to tell if I was nodding in agreement or not.
“King Nikolai.” A lady walked in, bowing her head as she fluttered her lashes. She was dressed in silk, looking ravishing with half her cleavage exposed.
She lowered herself before him again before walking forward, stepping on my palm with a cruel smile on her face.
I bit back the pain, tears rolling down my cheeks as my body trembled from holding everything in.
She smirked, sitting on King Nikolai’s lap with pride. “My beautiful , beautiful Astrid.” He muttered and she giggled, shying away.
“Who is she, Your Majesty?” She inquired, glaring at me.
“A human of no importance.” He replied briefly and her eyes lit up.
“Really? Can I have her? The last human I took from the palace is dead, they’re all weak but she looks like she could be stronger than the rest.” She mumbled as she took a good look at me.
It felt like she was checking me out to see if I was capable of doing her chores.
“I’ll have to cut her hair, it's too long. A few marks on her face wouldn’t hurt either, she needs to be as hideous as possible.” She continued and King Nikolai shrugged.
“Let her be, she belongs to the beast.” He replied while I remained there with my head bowed, wanting any punishment that didn’t involve my hair and face.
“Ohh… I’m sure the beast can have more ladies, it’s not like she’s not going to die… Let’s make use of the good ones rather than let them go to waste…” She pleaded and he shook his head.
“Take more slaves from the palace or instruct the guards to get you new guards from the human kingdom, ages off limits.” He asserted firmly and I could see that she was furious and she wanted to say more but she clamped her mouth shut, glaring at me.
“Fine… I’ll just go through the trouble of finding another one who is going to do a terrible job…” She grumbled, wishing he would retract his words.
“King Nikolai, Ashley is here to see you.” A guard announced with his head bowed and he nodded once.
“King Nikolai… I’m really sorry to interfere in your business but I need the human.” She whispered, trying to conceal her fear.
King Nikolai said nothing, he just glared at her as he clenched his fists.
“Th… The beast is aroused… He’s releasing his pheromones and the tower is a mess. Almost all the ladies in sight are aroused and trying to get laid. The guards are being tempted and if things don't change, the ladies will go into his cage… There’s going to be mass death, King Nikolai.” She explained and I was confused.
How could a beast get so much reaction from sane people? Just what was going on in their world?
King Nikolai said nothing, the silence persisted for almost a minute before he spoke.
“Leave… Everyone.” He ordered and I rose immediately. “Stay, human.” The words felt like cold water on my skin.
I swallowed as I forced my legs to go still, bowing my head as I wondered what he was going to do with me this time around.
“Guards.” He called and two guards rushed forward.
“Grab her hands.” He ordered and they hesitated for a moment, knowing I would be with the beast in a few minutes.
“Have her serve the beast this way, I’ll come watch in a few minutes as he rips her to pieces.” He replied with a smirk and I swallowed.
