Chapter 31

Nikolai I growled as I stopped halfway through the forest, my Lycan was furious, he was at the edge, about to lose it. We had felt the mate bond, it had been surreal, that beautiful feeling and even though I had warned him about chasing a ghost, for the first time in decades, he ignored my words, giving in to the scent of his mate. I wanted to kick him for ever believing we would have another mate, nobody is worthy of being our mates, we had our chance at happiness and it lasted a few decades. Arriving at the east wing, my mind drifted to the human. She had been poisoned and all of these bastards had left her in the house to die. I growled as I walked into the fear filled house, they were all terrified out of their wits, shaking. I scoffed, if she had died, the beast would be furious and in one day, I’d lose more maids and guards than I had done in all her stay here. It was a good thing I found her and took her to the infirmary. An image appeared in my head. She had a smile on her face when I scooped her into my arms. Like she had been waiting for me, as if she knew I was going to come. I wanted to know why but I shook the question off. She was a human. I should never be interested in anything related to humans. Without sparing them a glance, I walked into my chambers, Atticus trailing behind me. “Have you found who is behind this?” “No, your majesty but there’s a prime suspect, she’s missing and her family too are missing, I’ve sent guards to go in search of them, they’ll never make it past the border.” He replied and I gritted my teeth. “What about the beast? Is he awake?” “No, your majesty. He’s been asleep for days now.” I nodded, maybe the beast was returning to his old self. Maybe he would kill the human… I frowned at that, there was no use killing her since she was of little help in the pack. It’s best to watch her work endlessly and spend all her life living in terror at the mention of my name. “Your majesty, Astrid would like to see you.” She walked in before Atticus finished speaking. I frowned, her fears lingered in the air faintly. “Yo… your majesty, you’re back.” She smiled as she bowed her head and I nodded. “Please allow me to pleasure you, I’m sure your wolf is exhausted.” She whispered and I nodded. This was the distraction I needed to get my mind off the f*****g beast and his human. She smiled broadly, taking off her robe as she stood naked before me. I watched her without a reaction. She noticed and was displeased but she continued, crawling towards me like a dog as she grinned seductively. She knew what I loved, knew how I loved to assert dominance and have everyone beneath me. She stopped in front of me, her hand placed on my d**k as she undid my tonic. Her eyes held disappointment when she found me flat. “I know what to do.” She muttered as she took my limp length in her mouth, staring up at me while she squeezed my balls softly. This was what I loved, my s*x drive had always been high, I needed no type of foreplay for my d**k to harden. She bobbed her head back and forth, licking and sucking as she tried to arouse me but nothing changed. I wasn’t feeling her. My wolf had no interest so it made it difficult to force myself to get hard. Having had enough, I pushed her up. “That’s enough, get dressed and leave, I’ve got a lot on my mind.” I ordered and she stared at me with shock. “You’ve changed so much, your majesty.” She muttered and I said nothing, unbothered with her emotions. She looked like she was about to cry but tears did nothing to my hardened heart. “Ever since the human came into the kingdom, you’ve not spared me a glance, you’re either doing something that involves the human do away from the pack… you hate the beast so much yet you don’t miss an opportunity to visit him when the human is around… Your…” I growled, making her go quiet. “Not another word about the human, I’ll judge you beheaded.” I ordered and she went mute for a moment as tears flowed down her cheeks. She sniffed, wiping tears from her cheeks. “Father has decided that if you don’t make your intentions about me clear, he’s going to give me off to a suitor.” She announced and I shrugged. “I hope he chooses the right partner for you.” I replied, gazing at her and her jaw dropped as fresh tears appeared. “Y… your majesty…” She stammered and I raised a brow. “We’ve been together for almost three decades, I’ve been your bloodshot and partner for almost every full moon… it means we’re compatible… we would do well as chosen mates and our offspring…” “Enough!” I silenced her at the mention of offspring. Only Amelia is worthy of carrying my offspring. No creature is worthy, just my sweet, sweet mate. “You’re not worthy of carrying my offspring, two decades is a long time, it’s high time you focused on your life. Inform me when a date has been set for your union, I’ll throw a party and give you a home as my appreciation.” I replied and it only made her more terrified as her face turned white, so pale, it was almost like snow. “Y… you… your majesty.” Her lips trembled as she spoke. “I thought you wanted a new mate… I comforted you when Amelia died, I made myself available for you… For two decades because I knew you needed enough time to get over her… You were never going to marry me… you never had me in your plans…” She shook her head as more tears rushed down and I scoffed. “Silence! Amelia would forever be my only mate, nobody is worthy enough to replace her, I’ll never have another mate. Amelia is everything to me! Kill those crazy thoughts and never return to the east wing, you disgust me. Atticus, throw her out!” I ordered, gritting my teeth as I tried to hold back my wolf. He wanted to claw at her for speaking about Amelia.
