Chapter 3

1546 Words
The next Monday I go to school early to work on a paper for history class. I head to the library so I can get the book I need. As I walked into the library I spot Mrs. Jenn. The school librarian. After exchanging pleasantries, I head to the back of the library, find the book I need and sit at my usual spot. After a few minutes pass, Mrs. Jenn walks up to me clearing her throat to get my attention. "I have to run out for a few, are you good here?" "Yes ma'am, I'll be fine." "OK." She says as she walks away. What feels like 10 minutes later, I hear a rustling behind me. I stand up and turn around to see Zack standing there with a smirk on his face. "Sorry I didn't mean to scare you, Ally." "It's fine Zack. Can I help you with something?" "Actually you can." He says, taking a few steps toward me. He's making me really uncomfortable with how close he is getting to me. "What do you need?" I ask in a small voice. "Oh, you're a shy one. Hahaha, nice." He said while taking a few more steps towards me. Now alarm bells are going off in my head. "What do you want?" "You." He says as he comes closer, pinning me between him and the table. Clear your head Ally, what would Sadie do in this moment? I don't have much time to think before Zack grabs my wrist and keeps me pinned there. I try to wrestle my wrists out of his grip, but it's no use. Zack is strong. He looks like he should be a professional football player with how tall and big he is. He is quite intimidating. He looks at me with an amused smile on his face. "Awe, come on Ally bug. I just want to see how good you taste." He says as he leans his head down to the crook of my neck. I quickly move as far away from his mouth as I can. "Don't call me that, and get your f*****g hands off me." I say still trying to keep as much distance as I can. To no avail, Zack steps even closer and leans down. Is he going to try and kiss me? No!! This can't happen. I have to think fast and get out of this situation. I try looking around for anything I can use. Just then, a small laugh came from behind me. Zack looks up to find Scott standing there with a weird smirk on his face. "Really Zach, here?" He says taking one step towards us. I take that opportunity to bring my knee up as hard as I can connecting with his groin. Zack lets go of me grunting in pain. I grab my things and run out of the library and straight to the ladies' room. I go into a stall and lock it. Sitting on the toilet seat, I try and catch my breath. Was he really going to try something? Do I report this? Who would believe me over the QB of the football team? Oh my god. My head is spinning. I guess I answered my own question. Apparently, life can throw a lot more my way. Tears start to pool in my eyes. I don't try to hold them in. After what feels like an hour, I get up and go to the sink to wash my face. I look at my reflection in the mirror. I can't do this, I think to myself and run out of the school. I get to my car, get in and drive away from school. I have never ditched before but school is the last thing on my mind today. My phone starts buzzing. Sadie is trying to call me. I send her a quick message, "I'm fine but I won't be at school today." A few minutes later I get another call, but this time from Alex. I send him the same message. I drive for what seems like forever when I pull up at a spot called look out point. Its peaceful up here. My brother and I used to come up here all the time before. In case you are wondering, my brother's name is Conner. He passed away in a car accident 2 years ago. I think that's why my parents are never home. They can't stand to be in that house without him. Anyway, he and I used to come here all the time to let lose and get away from my controlling parents. We have even attended a few parties up here. I don't know why I ended up here, I just did. I got out of the car and go to sit on the hood of my car. I sit there and just think. That is until he showed up. Scott gets out of his car and walks up to the side of my car and just stands there staring out at the view. We stayed silent for a few moments just taking in the view. Scott is the first to break the silence. "Are you OK?" "Why do you care?" "Well, you did take off and almost hit 2 students." "What's your point, Scott?" "I just wanted to make sure you were OK." "Why? "Why what?" "Why do you care? You just stood there watching Zack literally about to force himself on me and you did nothing." "You don't know what your talking about, Princess." "Then please enlighten me?" "I stepped in before he was able to do anything, Ally. Or did you not see that?" "Just leave me alone, Scott. I'm fine." "You're obviously not." "Scott, please just leave me alone." "Is it so bad to have someone care for you?" "What and you do?" "Yes!!! Dammit Ally, why can't you see that I'm trying?" "Trying to do what exactly? Make me another name on your list of names of girls you screwed then threw away? No thank you." "You know what? f**k you Ally." He said as he turned on his heels and stormed away. He got into his car and sped away. Tears start to stain my face again as I sit there mulling over the events of the last 2 hours. Soon I get back into my car and drive home. To be honest, I'm not sure how long or even how I got home. I was a complete wreck. I walked into the house and straight to the kitchen. Don't judge me. I know from Saturday's hangover that I probably shouldn't, but I do anyway. I grab the vodka bottle and start chugging. I head to the stairway and ascend it slowly while still drinking. I got to the top of the stairs and slightly turned to the left. I see Conners' bedroom. I slowly walk to the door and reach for the handle. Pausing for a moment, I finally get the courage to open the door. Once inside, I take a look around. It's a typical teenage boy's room. Clothes spread out everywhere, magazines scattered on his desk and bed. Posters lining the walls. I turn and see a picture of him and I at the beach. I remember that picture. We had so much fun that summer. Tears start to stream down my face again. I turned and walked out of his room. I pace back and forth in the hallway. I can't hold it in any more. I scream at the top of my lungs and throw the bottle of vodka at the wall, watching it shatter before me. I walk to my bedroom and into my closet. I dig around for my box. When I find it, I take the box and set it on my bed and start going through it. When I reach the bottom of the box, I see it. The razor. I take it out and go into my bathroom. I sit on the edge of the bath tub, take off my bracelets, and hold the razor to my wrist. Now I know what your thinking, but it's not like that. I don't want to kill myself, I just need a release. Holding the razor up to my wrist, a memory comes flying into my head. "Never again, Bear. Please promise me, you will never do this to yourself again." The memory is of Conner sitting beside me in the hospital. I accidently cut too deep and had to be admitted to the hospital. He was the only one to ever call me Bear. Because I always gave him bear hugs. "I"m sorry Conner." I thought as I start to push the blade onto my skin. Before I can make any other movement, I hear banging at my front door. Startled, I drop the blade and stand up. More banging came from the front door. I went out to my bedroom and looked at the clock on my bedside table. 4:30p.m. s**t, that's probably Alex and Sadie. More banging. I go down the stairs and to the front door and open it. Just like I guessed, Alex and Sadie stand there with looks of concern on their faces. Then the questions started.
