Cody POV My frustration bubbled to the surface as I paced the length of the small, dimly lit room. I kept glancing at Julia, huddled against the wall, her arms wrapped protectively around her belly. Anger burned in my voice, barely contained. “You don’t know what Ethan is really like, Julia,” I began, my tone sharp. “He’s not the hero you think he is. He’s a player, always has been. He acts all charming and loyal, but it’s just an act.” I ran a hand through my hair, pacing a tight circle. “You think you’re special to him? You think you’re different?
