Julia POV The night shift at St. Mary’s seemed to stretch endlessly, the fluorescent lights and steady hum of machines blurring the hours together. I moved from room to room, tending to sleepy children and anxious parents, my mind only half on my work. I was careful and kind, but fatigue tugged at me with every passing hour.
