For the dog. $280, twelve pieces, wooden box with a sliding lid, the whole production. He photographed the box before he would let anybody near it. My roommate's brother brought a box over to her that night, from a place I had never heard of in my life. $28. Eight pieces. Plastic lid. Tape down the sides. You could see where the grease had come up through the paper bag. There are four of us in that room, so we split both. Three pieces of the Grand each, two pieces of the other one each. Five pieces of eel rice per person. She texted her brother from the table and he wrote back the price. $28. I am not making that up. I'm not naming the place. Every time somebody names a place on this sub it turns into a war, and I have to live with three other people. The thing I came here to say, and it isn't funny: when we opened the cheap box, the room went quiet. That's it. That's the post. --- u/plaidandpancakes · 9:40 PM wait. $280 for the dog's birthday. what's the other place u/WaffleIronWoman · 9:46 PM my mother's soup costs nine dollars to make and I'd put it up against anything downtown. price is not flavor. u/Theo_Eats · 9:52 PM the Grand's is good. I'm not going to sit here and pretend it isn't. I haven't had the one you're describing so I have nothing to compare it to. u/curiouskettle · 9:56 PM genuinely want to know what the $280 one tastes like. I will never find out. u/dana_eats · 10:03 PM I think I know the place. Large is $28 and medium is $18? I had to text a friend to check, I don't memorize prices. u/dana_eats · 10:04 PM The Shallows. I've had the large. It was better than the Grand's. I said what I said. u/featherweight_rina (OP) · 10:05 PM that's the one u/dana_eats · 10:06 PM then I stand by it. u/nineteen_years_here · 10:09 PM I've been on this sub four years and I don't think a single week has passed without somebody getting accused of running a review farm. u/boil_not_broil · 10:12 PM and there it is. u/boil_not_broil · 10:13 PM I'll say it once. This is an ad. Nobody sits down and writes "the $280 box vs the $28 box" unless somebody is paying them. Comparison-bait is the oldest trick on this sub and it still stinks. u/boil_not_broil · 10:14 PM before the name showed up this was a normal thread. then an account nobody has ever seen in here shows up out of nowhere and names the restaurant. that isn't a customer. that's a shill. u/peppergrinder_44 · 10:19 PM [screenshot: TruEats listing, The Shallows, 3.5] u/peppergrinder_44 · 10:20 PM it's a 3.5. three point five. you're telling me a 3.5 beats a hotel that's been on the waterfront since before I was born u/peppergrinder_44 · 10:22 PM also if you sort TruEats by newest it's five stars for two pages and then it drops off a cliff. I know what a review farm looks like. u/dana_eats · 10:26 PM I'm not a shill. I'm a person who ate rice. u/boil_not_broil · 10:27 PM that's exactly what a shill says u/dana_eats · 10:28 PM you're the shill. your whole family's a shill. u/dana_eats · 10:31 PM I'm not the one being weird about this. you're being weird about this. I'm done. you can have the last word, I know you need it. u/dana_eats · 10:33 PM people who walk around accusing strangers of getting paid. that's the entire personality. u/boil_not_broil · 10:34 PM she's still going u/fishbowljeans · 10:41 PM I believe OP. her account is four years old and she has never posted about a restaurant. u/marisolreads · 10:52 PM I've eaten there. the large is better than the Grand's. u/curiouskettle · 10:58 PM I've lost the thread on this whole thing. did the dog get any u/featherweight_rina (OP) · 11:00 PM the dog got none of it. I want that on the record u/dogtax_please · 11:02 PM pictures or it didn't happen u/featherweight_rina (OP) · 11:04 PM she's asleep. I'll put one up in the morning [ Removed by moderators · 11:19 PM ] **Rule 4 — No advertising, no undisclosed promotion.** Threads that read as marketing get pulled, including threads where the business is named only in the comments. This is not a ruling on the food. Do not repost. "I actually ate there" is not grounds for restoring a Rule 4 removal. Message the mods if you think we got this wrong. --- [direct messages] **Rina** · 11:26 PM they took it down. rule 4, advertising I didn't put the name in it. somebody else put the name in it and I got the rule I'm not mad at your brother are you up **Kayla** · 11:41 PM it's fine **Rina** · 11:42 PM ok
