Chapter 4 – Caged and Cornered

430 Words
Rhea’s POV I was screwed. Not in the fun way. No, I was locked in a room that probably cost more than my entire life, pacing like a caged animal. My pulse was still hammering, my breathing still uneven, my wolf still restless beneath my skin. Everything smelled like them. Rich, masculine, powerful. It clung to my clothes, to my damn skin. I yanked at the collar of my tank top, hating how my body still felt too hot. Stupid. Weak. Wrong. Mate. The word made me want to scream. I wasn’t some pack’s omega. I wasn’t some docile little she-wolf waiting to be claimed. I was rogue. Free. Alone. And I was getting the hell out of here. I stalked toward the door, testing the handle. Locked. The windows? Reinforced glass. Damn them. My hands curled into fists. I wasn’t done fighting. Not even close. --- Zayne’s POV (The Alpha) I leaned against the wall outside the door, arms crossed, listening to her pace. Our mate. The words burned through me. She didn’t belong to just me. She belonged to Kieran and Lucien too. That should’ve made my wolf hesitate. Should’ve made my Alpha instincts fight back. But all I could focus on was her scent. Even through the thick wooden door, it still reached me—wild, untamed, intoxicating. She was tiny, all sharp edges and stubborn defiance. A rogue. Unclaimed. And my wolf wanted her on her knees. I exhaled through my nose, gripping the doorframe to steady myself. “Stop pacing,” I called through the door. Silence. Then— “Go to hell.” I grinned. I f*****g liked her. Lucien strolled up beside me, his crimson eyes gleaming with amusement. “She bit you, didn’t she?” I flexed my jaw. “Shut up.” Kieran’s heavy footsteps signaled his arrival. The Lycan King’s golden eyes were unreadable as he stood beside us, staring at the door. “She’s strong,” he said finally. Lucien smirked. “And she hates us.” Kieran’s gaze darkened. “She won’t for long.” I raised a brow. “That sounds a little ominous, even for you.” “She’s ours,” Kieran said simply. “She’ll learn.” Lucien chuckled. “Shall we go teach her, then?” My blood ran hot at the thought. But Kieran shook his head. “Not yet.” I exhaled sharply, forcing my instincts down. I knew he was right. We were already pushing her. She was wild now. But soon, she’d be ours. She just didn’t know it yet.
