"Obviously"

I was always calm. I'm pretty sure that all the strange things I've seen can attest to that. Yet, once again Alina Perkins was throwing a fit over a grade. It was a normal and very annoying recurrence. I knew the drill already, Alina would shout out how she deserved a better grade and Mrs. Lee would disagree vehemently. This could and has in the past gone on for well over an hour. Say what you will about Alina but you could always depend on one of her hysteric breakdowns to waste as much class time as possible. I sighed and placed my head down on the desk opting instead to watch the dusty floor tiles in all their glory. I ran my fingers over the table tracing the designs and initials that had been etched into the surface over the years. Their yelling grew louder and more disruptive while still stuck on the same loop. Soon Alina would threaten to tell her father, who was some school board bigwig, and Mrs. Lee would counter with a no-f***s-given response. Then the girl would bust out in tears and rush out like some stupid distressed damsel. I was so tired of it. My calm thoughts slowly turned sour as my hands tightened into fists. I clenched my jaw, my foot tapping lightly at the linoleum in anger. Alina began pacing from her desk in front of mine to behind me, dragging her annoyingly fruity scent across my face. Her hips bumping against the tabletop every so often. I took deeper and deeper breaths as an uncontrollable rage flooded over me. Looking back, I should have realized something was different a lot sooner. I was never angry and as often as this annoying girl threw a fit, I had never reacted so. But it wasn't until I heard a single voice that I snapped out of my trance. "Kill her..." I turned around slowly only to stare directly in the face of an olive skinned girl. Her red eyes were surprisingly bright and youthful. A toothy smile was plastered across her face inadvertently showing off a set of impressive fangs. She wore her brown hair swept back and down to the sides in twin loose braids tidily, well save for a few strands that weren't quite long enough to frame her horns. Yes horns, she had four, two larger that sat on the crown of her head and two smaller that sat further down. A thin spade tipped tail followed her, seeming to gracefully float above the ground. So this was a demon, huh? Exorcist or not, I had never actually dealt with this kind of demon before. But there's a first time for everything I guess. I sat there staring at the demon who awkwardly stared back with that stupid yet surprisingly innocent grin still painted on, "Um, I'm sorry... who are you?" The girl froze, her previously amused expression now melting into one of confused terror, "...You...you can see me?" I c****d an eyebrow, "Obviously." She let out a shrill cry before vanishing in a puff of sulfur, I gawked at the leftover rusted mist in confusion. What could possibly be of interest to a demon in my high school? My shoulders shrugged as I turned back around in my seat. I was slightly put off by a few people staring my way, most likely due to the single person conversation I just had with the air. But as Alina and Mrs. Lee still held the attention of the majority of the class I shrugged it off. I opened my notebook jotting down a quick to-do list 1) turn in psychology paper, 2) research influential civil war battles, and 3) find out why there was a f*****g demon in my classroom.
