He was soon surrounded by a number of aristocratic gentlemen involved in various pecuniary schemes, all eager to converse with the knowledgeable Mr. Brooks. It was customary for Percy to be the center of attention at such a gathering, and he was not one bit pleased with the reversal of roles, especially as Nathan seemed to have forgotten his presence.
