The following afternoon an equally surly and inattentive office worker arrived on shift to find that the gentleman who had collected the key for number three the prior afternoon had not returned it, and the overnight clerk had not bothered to follow up. Determined to not have the extra day’s room rate deducted from her measly check, she retrieved the master key and headed to the door.
