Liam rubbed the back of my hand as he said, “We are not mad at you, we are mad that someone did such things to you. But I must know, what did you mean? What worst thing happened to you?” I looked down at my hands as I played with the edge of the blanket. Can I really tell them this? Maybe it would be easier to just show them what happened. I looked up and said, “I will tell you, if you really want to know. Please just be sure that you really want to know. I will also show you the truth, but only if you all promise me one thing.” Will looked at me and said, “What is it you want?” This is the first time I actually heard him speak. His voice is rich and deep, it puts me more at ease than anyone ever has. I said, “I want to learn how to fight. I don’t want too ever be vulnerable ever again. So please teach me to fight, train me harder than you have ever trained anyone. I want to be the best of the best.” They exchange glances with each other and all three nods.
I stand up and turn my back on them facing the window. As I begin speaking, I lift the back of my shirt for them to see the scars. I hear them all gasp as I said, “I was chained to the wall completely naked. Ian walked up behind me and pulled my hair so he could whisper in ear that he had a special game planned for that day. He shoved my face into the wall by my hair, so my ass was pushed towards him. He undid his pants and had his way with me standing up. It hurt a lot but once he was finished, he let me know that he wasn’t done yet. I heard him walk to the other side of the room and grab something off the wall. I didn’t know what was going to happen until I heard the crack of the whip, and the blades rip through the flesh on my back. I screamed so loud and so long that my throat hurt and was raw. I don’t know how many times he whipped me the first time. I passed out at some point. When I woke up my back hurt, but I didn’t feel any blood. But this time he had me on my knees chained to the floor. That was when he decided that my mouth was better than anything else.” I had to stop. If I keep going, I will never regain my sanity.
I waited for one of them to say something but instead I felt soft fingers going over my scars before they wrapped around my waist softly. I look over my shoulder to see a head of golden hair as Chad wrapped his arms around me and buried his face in my neck. He smelled of cinnamon and spice. Oddly it was very comforting. His voice was muffled a little by my hair, but I heard him say, “I swear Ian will pay dearly for all he put you through. I will make sure you are avenged. And I will train you as much as you want. I will be your friend forever. I pledge my life to you, my alpha. From today until my dying breath.” I didn’t really know what to say so I just turned around and wrapped my arms around his neck and hugged him as hard as I could as the sobs began to build within me. He said, “It’s ok little one, let it out. I’m not going anywhere.” That’s exactly what I did. I cried until I had nothing left inside me. Once my sobbing slowed down. He picked me up and carried me to the bed and sat down with me sitting sideways on his lap.
I looked up at Liam and Will, they both had tears in their eyes, but underneath the sadness I could feel the rage pulsing just below the surface. I sighed and said, “Liam, is there anything else you need to tell me tonight?” He seemed hesitant to tell me anything, before he could say anything I said, “Please just tell me whatever it is so I can think about it, and we can make decisions about it tomorrow. I assume I'm going to need to learn how to be an alpha if I’m really supposed to lead.” They all chuckled and Liam said, “There is something else. We will have some guests over the next few days to see you. They will be some high ranking light fae, as well as some witches. Possibly even a few druids that want to see you. Although I don’t know about that last one, they haven’t been seen in a long time. We need an alliance with them, and I think you are the only one that can do that.” I’m sorry, say what? What is he talking about? I looked at him and said, “Huh?” They looked at me and started laughing. It was Will that answered, “You are not any ordinary she-wolf. You are a pure blood alpha female. That makes you the strongest there is. I know you may not believe me, but you will see once you finally get your wolf. We will train you between now and then to get your body strong. But once you get her you will learn to fight in both forms.” I thought that sounded reasonable.
I looked at them and said, “Ok, I will speak with them when they get here. I may need some pointers, so I don’t offend anyone. Oh yea, how did you talk with them to get them here, but you never actually called anyone?” I looked at Liam, and he said, “Oh within the pack we can speak through something called a mind-link. It’s a telepathic connection that all pack members share.” That sounds so cool. I wonder when I will get that. Will says, almost like reading my thoughts. “We will do a ceremony welcoming you to the pack in the next few days.” I looked down disappointed and said, “Why not do it now? Does it have to be a big thing?” Liam shared a look with Will before he left. Liam said, “No, it doesn’t have to be. We can do it right now. Will went to get the pack dagger.” Dagger? What did I just sign up for? Chad could feel my shock since I was still sitting in his lap like a child. He said, “It’s nothing to worry about. It's just a small cut on the hand.” I sighed in relief as Will walked back in with an ancient-looking oak box. The top was carved with a swirling crescent moon with Celtic symbols within the moon. Next to the moon was a howling wolf.
It was a very pretty symbol; I wonder what it means. Liam looked at me and said, “It is the symbol of our pack, The Crescent Wolf Pack. Once you are a member, this symbol will appear somewhere on your body. Mine is on my shoulder.” Chad lifted his shirt slightly to show me his mark above his hip. Wills was on his bicep. I wonder where mine will be. Liam comes closer and Will lifts the lid of the box to show a beautiful silver dagger with an intricately carved ivory handle. I could see Celtic runes all over the handle. Liam motioned for me to come forward and as I walked closer to him, he grabbed my hand. As he grabbed the knife he said, “This will only hurt a little.” He takes the knife and gently places it against my palm to make a cut. He then cuts his own palm and grasps my hand. As our blood mingles, he says, “Do you swear to always serve your pack? Do you swear to answer to your alpha’s commands and do what is best for the pack?” I respond with, “By the grace of the Moon Goddess I will only do good for my pack and obey my alpha’s commands and look out for the betterment of my pack.” As I finished speaking, I felt the wind swirl around us before I felt a small pinch in the back of my head. I looked up to hear Liam say, “Welcome to the pack.” I think I will enjoy having this link.
After a moment I yawned and realized just how tired I was. I made my way to bed and laid down on the soft bed. Chad walked over and pulled the blankets up over me and wished me a goodnight. I didn’t hear anything else as sleep overtook me.
