04. Stalking you

2453 Words
AIDEN “Mom.” I knocked on the door of my father’s office, which was slightly open. She had a tired wrinkle on her forehead while going through piles of paperwork. “Hello Aiden. How is your day?” The sentences were pronounced with a heavy sigh. She was obviously busy and did not wish to be disturbed. “You shouldn’t be doing this, mom.” I shook my head, stepping in and taking a seat opposite her. She let the papers fall onto the massive desk, lifted her eyes to meet mine, her ruby red lips giving me a heartwarming smile. “I know, but with our Gamma having a vacation, we are quite shortheaded.” That was true. Gamma Scott became a father recently and asked for a month of parental leave. His mate was from a different pack, and she didn’t want to move to Black Forest. Well, no one could blame her. It was not a secret that Gamma Scott and auntie T used to be a couple for almost 20 years. But when he found his fated mate, their relationship ended. And let’s say, Scott’s mate was very jealous of his witch lover. “Let me help you, then. What is it you’re looking at?” I suggested, showing my interest in helping. “Mainly just bills or contracts which are about to expire.” Something that our Beta should be reviewing, not her. “What is Jerome doing?” I arched my brow. She stood up and walked behind me. Her hands landed on my shoulders, and she started to massage me. “He’s taking care of our warriors. A new program is about to be launched today. I see a lot of tension in you, Aiden. Is something bothering you?” Yeah, there were plenty of things that bothered me. And the majority of them were linked to my father. I didn’t like to see my mom being this overloaded. “Maybe I should be appointed as Alpha sooner.” I stated firmly, carefully putting her hands away from my shoulders. She sighed heavily and returned to her seat. “We have already discussed this topic, Aiden. Let’s wait till Carrie finishes her studies.” “No, mom. I don’t see your point. I am ready for this job. You have to admit it can’t work like this any longer. Just tell me, when was the last time you saw him? When did you two speak?” I referred to my father. It was a tough topic for my mom. She loved him tremendously and their situation was killing her heart. Day by day, she was more and more sorrowful. I hated it. I hated watching her suffer. “I was with him an hour ago.” She whispered the words, looking elsewhere. “And? Is he coming to see the rest of his family or not?” “Stop it. It’s not that easy. You know very well what he’s dealing with.” She slammed her fist on the desk, tears filling her green eyes. A pang in my heart reminded me that I shouldn’t be mean to her. Remy growled at me for being a jerk. This was not why I came to see her. She really didn’t need extra concerns in her life. “I apologize, mom. I know it’s not your fault. And I know it’s not his fault either. If only we could find out who’s responsible for all this mess.” My hand ran through my hair, which was still wet after the shower. The vision of a beautiful blond witch appeared in my mind again. I was certain she was about to haunt me in my dreams. I would think of her day and night, while being awake as well as during my sleep. “That would not help the overall situation, Aiden. We don’t need a person to blame. What we need is a cure to this poisonous situation we are drowning in.” She sounded resigned. I decided not to pressure her any longer. We discussed it countless times, yet there was no result. She was stubborn and she wanted to prolong time. Time, which unfortunately was running out too fast. “I wanted to ask you something.” I changed the subject quickly. She grabbed my hand which was resting on the desk, caressing it lovingly and patiently waiting for the question to be raised. “Who’s that witch with auntie T? “She’s pretty, isn’t she?” Her lips twisted into a smile, she was scanning my face, eager for my reaction. “That was not what I asked.” I coughed and pierced her with my gaze. Seriousness was difficult to hold due to all the mixed feelings which overwhelmed me. “Yet, that is what swirls your mind. Come on, my son. I know you your whole life.” She was right. She could tell whenever I was interested in some woman. I guess I was not very good at hiding affection towards females. “OK, OK. Maybe I’m interested. So, who is she?” I demanded the answers, my left leg trembling under the desk restlessly. “A student from a university of witchcraft. She came here on an internship. I know you don’t approve of such things, but I had to do it for Theresa. We still need her and she wants to keep herself occupied. Because of Scott.” That was right. Theresa wanted to leave our pack right after Gamma Scott got mated. She played it cool, as if it did not affect her, but we knew that deep down she was hurt due to the breakup. And when Scott’s mate got pregnant, she informed my mom she didn’t want to work as a pack witch anymore. Mom begged her on her knees to stay a bit longer. Without auntie T, the days of my father would be very soon over. “I don’t mind her student being here. So how often is she going to show up?” I asked casually. “Monday till Thursday for the upcoming 4 months. But I highly recommend keeping your distance from the witch girl. Davina seems to be a good girl. You shouldn’t toy with her.” There was a warning in my mother’s tone of voice. But I did not pay much attention. All I could hear was the lovely name of my mate. “Davina. What a pretty name.” The name rolled on my tongue in all its sweetness. I could picture the swell of her full breasts moving up and down while I whispered her name into her cute little ear. S.hit, I was already too hopeless. The fantasies about her were turning me into a horny beast. Remy howled in my mind, urging me to find her as soon as possible. He already missed her. “Aiden!” Mom yelled, her face contorted with annoyance. “Don’t worry, mom. I will not break her heart.” I winked at her and stood up. I had to see Davina. “Hm. Can you drive Carrie to Golden Meadows? She’s having a sleepover with one of her classmates.” She said before I managed to leave the office. I was in no mood to be a taxi driver for my teenage sister. “Actually, I’m quite busy and...” I started with some lame excuses, but she immediately cut me off. “Not busy enough if you have time to stalk Davina Hayes.” Damnit! Once again, she was right, and I had no chance to escape. *** I waited for Carrie to come back home from school and pack her stuff for the sleepover. It was almost 3PM and I was getting worried that Davina had already left, and I would not see her until next day. “Move your ass, Carrie.” I grunted via mind-link. “Yeah, yeah grumpy. I’m coming.” She responded with a frown typical for a 16-year-old. Soon she was running down the stairs, throwing a huge bag in my direction. I didn’t understand why she needed so much crap for one night. All that make-up and similar bull$hit. They were supposed to be in their pajamas watching some lame romcoms, not turning into supermodels. But what did I know about teenage girls? One thing was more than clear – they could be annoying as fvck. “Don’t shake it, Aiden. I have fragile stuff in there.” She hissed at me, tapping her finger on her forehead. She must have thought I was a complete neanderthal, not having a clue how to properly carry a woman’s bag. “Just get in the car, please.” I grunted tiredly. “Thank you for driving me, big bro.” She said cheerfully and I had to roll my eyes at her. But I only pretended I was bothered. I loved my sister, and I would gladly give her a ride. Only this day was not the best time. Today, there were too many distractions in my life. I placed Carrie’s bag in the trunk of my car while she seated herself in the passenger seat. With the corner of my eye, I noticed another car parked nearby, the driver scrolling on his phone out of boredom. He was obviously waiting for someone. “Where are you going?” The annoying teenager shrieked when I rushed to the other car. “Just a minute.” I replied without sparing her additional look. “Who are you waiting for?” The driver gasped and dropped his phone when he noticed my presence. He was scrolling through some p0rn website, and the embarrassment was more than visible. “I’m driving the witch student back to the residential house which belongs to the university.” He answered matter-of-factly. My alpha aura was a bit overwhelming for this low-ranked wolf. He seemed nervous. “And where is that exactly?” I asked and the driver spilled the address. “Why do you need to know my address?” The most beautiful voice entered my ears, making my wolf purr in delight. I turned around to meet her dark blue eyes. There was a minor blush on her cheeks. She tried to look angry with me for gathering information about her living situation, yet she was startled by the trembling of her hands and she tried to hide them behind her back. Not just the driver felt overwhelmed in my presence. “I am a very eco-oriented guy and think about emissions. Seems like your residential house is in my direction. Want to take a ride with me?” I asked, stepping closer, but she took a step back. The distance she created was like a kick in the balls. And I lied. Her university was not at all on the way to Golden Meadows. “I don’t think so.” She shook her head and my wolf growled within me. He was not pleased to be rejected like this. “Davina, please.” “How do you know my name?” She burst out surprisingly. And I had to smile. Did she truly think I would ignore my mate? No. I acted like a true obsessed alpha and stalked her. “What the hell, Aiden! I will be late because of you. Why do you bother this lady?” My sister yelled at me, making long jumps towards our direction. I was so occupied by the beauty in front of me that I completely forgot about the little annoyance waiting for me in the car. “Get back to the car, Carrie.” I groaned, throwing invisible daggers at my sister. The heated and angry tone of the voice was not the best option. Davina’s mouth gaped and she distanced from me even farther. She was a shy one. Fvck! I scared her. “Gee, you and your alpha testosterone. Be a good brother and don’t bark at me.” Carrie retorted. “Are you the Alpha of this pack?” The Goddess with a scent of fresh peaches asked. She was startled by this new information. “Future Alpha.” My sister responded on my behalf. “Is he bothering you? Aiden, why are you hitting on this lady?” The little brat did not know when to hold her hole shut. I scolded her via mind-link but she decided not to listen to any lectures and closed the channel. “Carrie, would you please wait in the car? I’ll be there in a second. I promise.” I asked her as nicely as I could. Her hazel eyes switched from me to Davina, and she must have understood that something was going between us. She turned around and rushed back to the car without saying further words. “The ride offer still stands.” I said, smiling at her. “I’m sorry, Alpha. I have this driver assigned to take care of my transportation. So, there is no need,” she stated firmly. The way she pronounced my title gave me strange chills. It was not out of respect, but the fear could be spotted in her voice. “Hey. I’m sorry for the ambush earlier today. I was hoping to see you again. Fully dressed. Or not. Based on your preference.” I tried to sound playful but she did not seem to be impressed at all. Her eyes narrowed and then she bit her bottom lip nervously. If only it could be me biting that lip. “Well, I am here tomorrow again. You can come to say hello if you are not too busy.” “That is not what I had in my mind. How about dinner?” I moved closer to her, carefully taking her hand into mine. Her breath quickened but she did not pull away. Our eyes locked and it felt as if time had stopped. And I lowered my head, inhaling her wonderful scent as I was pulling her closer to me. Her lips parted in anticipation when she acknowledged the forthcoming kiss. I was ready to slam my lips against hers and claim their sweetness in the most possessive way. And just about a few inches away from achieving what I wished for, my stupid sister honked the horn. “I apologize, but I don’t want to date anyone right now. I have to go.” Davina panicked and caved in. She swiftly walked beside me, hopping behind the driver. And I sighed in frustration when I saw her physically leaving me. This wouldn’t be easy. I would have to do a lot to woo her.
