Chapter 3 “ That is Ethan Connor" i gasped. The drunk man turned to face him,his eyes narrowing aggressively.“ Mind your god damn business," he growled, taking a step closer to him. He stood his ground, his eyes never leaving the drunk man's face,no one would tell that he himself is also drunk.“it is making my business because she is my woman," he said, his voice firm. The drunk man charged forward, swinging wildly, but the Ethan dodged and weaved, landing precise blows that sent the drunk man crashing to the floor. I watched in awe as Ethan took down the drunk man with ease. Why did he do that? Did he just call me his woman? I thought with my mouth wide open, but was suddenly grabbed by Ethan. Let's move, he said, leaning on me as i manage to drag us both out of the bar. I woke up early,my mind still reeling from the events of the previous night. After dressing in my usual white and black attire,i headed to work, arriving earlier than usual. Sleep had eluded me,as my brain insistently replayed the scenario from the bar, reliving Ethan's heroic intervention and the sense of gratitude that lingered long after the night had ended I went into the kitchen, preparing his usual breakfast with a mix of excitement and nervousness. I couldn't wait to talk to him about last night's event and thank him for saving me. However, when he finally came downstairs, he barely acknowledged my presence. He took a few bites of his breakfast and muttered, “ it's awkward that you look so good, but your food tastes the direct opposite of your look." I felt a surge of anger and frustration. “ if you hate my cooking so much, then why do you eat it? Why don't you fire me? I yelled,my emotions boiling over. He looked up at me calmly, and i expected a harsh reaction. Instead,he walked out the door, leaving me stunned. i stood there, trying to process what had just happened.i brushed the thought again, and decided to prepare dinner on time, so i could have the rest of the day to myself,as i was chopping the onions,i received a text from Ethan; “ Get ready by 8pm. My driver will be at your apartment to pick you up,do not bother to make dinner." I was taken aback ,unsure of what to make of the sudden request.“ what?! Why? Could you at least tell me why i should get ready and where your driver is taking me to? I am your maid and not your slave, you don't have the right to boss me around even outside my job! " I texted back, trying to keep my anger in check. To my surprise,Ethan responded almost immediately: i am having dinner with my friends after a business meeting, and i want you to act as my girlfriend. Do not flatter yourself, you can never be my girlfriend. Don't get over excited. Do as i have instructed you or forget about your job." I scoffed at his message, feeling a mix of annoyance and curiosity. Who does he think he is? Does he not have a girlfriend? What about her? Why is he choosing me? I had so much questions to ask but i dare not. I slipped into the sleek red dress that Ethan's driver had delivered earlier. As I gazed into the mirror,I couldn't help but admire the way the dress hugged my curves, accentuating my figure. Feeling confident and glamorous,I made my way to the waiting car. Before long,I arrived at the dinner hall, where Ethan greeted me at the entrance. He took my hand in his,and together we walked towards our seats. I caught him stealing glances at me,his eyes lingering on the dress and way it fit me perfectly. As we walked to our seats, I couldn't help but notice the envious gazes of the other guests. The evening wore on, with champagne toasts and laughter-filled conversations. But as the night progressed, I found myself getting increasingly tipsy. Ethan's voice cut through the haze, "You're drunk, we should go home." I protested, pushing him away as I reached for another glass. I was having the time of my life, and I didn't want the night to end, it's not everytime a poor girl gets to go to a dinner and eats whatever she likes,I thought to my self as I munched on foods and gulped a glass. But as the dinner drew to a close, Ethan swooped in, lifting me off the ground. I kicked and struggled, but he held me firm, “ That's enough for today" he said. "Let me down!" I slurred, before pulling him into a sloppy kiss. Ethan gently disengaged, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "You're drunk, Emily," he said, carrying me out to his car. The rest of the night was a blur, but I vaguely remembered throwing up in the car and Ethan cleaning me up. The next morning, I woke up to the blinding sunlight streaming through the windows. My head pounded with a migraine, and I struggled to remember the events of the previous night. As I looked around, I realized I was in Ethan's house, and panic set in. I frantically searched for my clothes, but they were nowhere to be found. A wave of fear washed over me as I wondered if Ethan had taken advantage of me. I wrapped the blanket around myself and stormed into his room. "What did you do to me?" I yelled, my voice shaking with fear and anger. "What happened last night? Why am I naked? Why am I in your house?" Ethan just gave me a puzzled look. "What do you mean?" he asked, his tone innocent. I am at your house , the last thing I remembered was me with my clothes on, and now I am naked, what did you do to me I yelled, demanding an answer. But Ethan burst out laughing. "You're delusional," he said, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "Do not flatter yourself. Do you think I would stoop so low as to have s*x with you?" His words cut deep, and I felt my face burn with embarrassment. I ran back to the room, tears streaming down my face. But to my surprise, Ethan followed me, his expression softening. He pulled me into a warm embrace, wiping away my tears with the back of his hand. "I didn't mean to hurt you," he whispered, his voice filled with sincerity. And in that moment, my heart skipped a beat. Did he just apologize? As I looked up at him, Ethan's eyes locked onto mine, and he pulled me into a gentle kiss.
