CHAPTER-10

ALEX'S POV,



I am happy with the preparation I made. Ian and Rose helped me, but I wanted to cook for Emily. So I made a variety of food.

Everything is her favorite. How did I know? Well, let’s not get into all the details.

When I just put the last dish on the table, I heard her unlock her door. I tidied up myself and did a last-minute glance over the house, and sprayed lavender air freshener all over the house.

Once I was satisfied with everything, I went and knocked on the door. She opened her door with a smile, and I said, "I'm here to remind you about the housewarming party. I hope you haven't forgotten."

I can't stop smiling when I see her, but I don’t want to grin like an i***t, but I always end up grinning. What to do, she makes my dull life beautiful.

"I didn't," she replied with a smile.

"Um, can I bring a friend with me? She is coming over to stay the night with me."

"Sure, you can bring her over."

“Thanks. We will join you in a bit.”

After a while, she and Lily arrived. I don't usually remember ladies' names, but she was my beta's mate and Emily’s best friend. So I had to remember her.

I welcomed them in my apartment and led them to the others.

"Make yourself comfortable,"

Then I started introducing them as humanly as possible.

I introduced them as my childhood friends, business partners, and their partner.

While talking, Grover started to blatantly flirt with Lily. And his behavior was really an eye-opener for me.

“Do I have to be this shameless as well!!” I thought to myself.

After endless talking and me staring at Emily, it’s time to eat.

The time to showcase my ability.

But then again, I forgot it’s not just Emily and me here.

There are others, too. The food was organized in buffet style.

While eating, Ian opened his silly mouth and started to tease me.

He said, "It's the first time we are eating the food mighty Alexander cooked. Let's enjoy it while we can. This day might never come again."

This made everyone laugh.

I could see a tiny bit of admiration in her eyes after she found out I could cook.

Looks like I earned some extra points with this cooking skill of mine.

After eating, everyone sat down to watch a comedy movie and had a few drinks.

After the movie, Emily and Lily said goodbye and thanked me for the meal before leaving.

After they left, Ian said, "Hurry and bring Luna to the pack house."

"And by the way, you remember that you need to tell her about us being werewolves, right?"

"I can't forget that even if I want to, Ian. I can only hope she doesn't reject me after knowing this. I don't think I can stay sane if that happens," I said.

"Don't worry, Alex. Let's hope for the best. Seeing her love for animals, she might like Lex more than you," Rose teased.

Hearing this, Lex purred with happiness.

I couldn't help but feel a bit jealous of Lex.I know, just like being jealous of myself. But I can’t control that feeling, I guess.

After staying for a while, they left for the pack house.

I could hear that Emily fell asleep too. I sat on my balcony with a drink; the breeze was cool, but my head was filled with worry.

What if Xavier finds her? What if history repeats itself?

All kinds of worries were inside my head. I couldn't shake off the feeling.

After some time, I went to bed, thinking about how to approach her tomorrow.

The next day, I woke up with the sun. I couldn't sleep well because of all the things going on inside my brain.

I had my morning coffee and started to read the report sent by Ian.

They still couldn't track him; whenever they thought they had almost got him, he always slipped away.

But we need to speed up the processes. I don’t have much time if I want to have a happy and peaceful life with her.

Then I got dressed in casual attire and waited for Emily to leave so I could PRETEND to run into her in front of the elevator.

She came out of her apartment at her usual time, and I came out at the same time. She looked beautiful this morning as well. She wore a red top with blue jeans and looked pretty even in the simplest of dresses.

"Good morning, Emily."

“Slept well?”

"Good morning, Alex."

“Yeah, kind of.”

Though she said she did, she looked rather tired.

Her tiredness was very much visible, so I asked, "Are you okay? You look somewhat sick. Should I take you to the hospital?"

"No, no. I am alright. I just didn't sleep well last night. That's all," she replied.

When we reached the ground floor, I didn't see her car.

So I asked, "Do you need a ride? We're going in the same direction, so I can drop you."

"No need, but thank you for asking. Lily will be dropping me off today." she declined me with a smile.

Then she walked towards the front gate, and I saw Lily waiting for her.

She went with her.

After that, I left and waited at the same coffee shop.

Watching her work.

After some time, I saw a person come to her clinic and try to harass her.

I had to stop Lex from coming forward and ripping that guy to pieces.

Though I am not better myself. But I know I should have trust in her, that she will be able to take care of herself.

Anyway, I am just a few steps away from her.

Just when I started to get my rationality back, I remembered this guy from the information I collected about her.

It’s her not deserving to be a human ex-boyfriend.

The emotions I suppressed came back at once.

Jealousy, anger, and the urge to rip that guy apart.

But I saw her dealing with him.

She drove him out.

But as he was leaving, he warned her with something like, "You'll regret this."

I was so angry that I wanted to go over there and rip his head from his body, even though Lex was with me in it.

How dare he threaten our mate?

"We should wait, Lex. We cannot blow our cover over this good-for-nothing. We can always teach him a lesson, but not in front of her." Only then did Lex calm down, although he seemed ready to confront him at any moment.

We watched him leave.

I sent a message to Grover, asking, "Grover, can you help me take really good care of him? It would be great if he went missing or something."

"Why? How did he manage to get under your skin?" Grover replied.

Annoyed, I responded, "Just do what's told, Grover."

"Okay, okay, angry alpha. It'll be done," came the reply with a cat-saluting emoji.

After the ordeal, she went back to work.

After closing her clinic for the day, she was waiting for a cab. I drove up to her and offered a ride.

"Hey, Emily. Are you heading home? I am heading home too. Let’s go together. It’ll be hard to get transport at this hour. " I said.

After some hesitation, she got in.

On our way, we passed by a nice place to eat, so I stopped in front of it.

Surprised and asked, "Why did we stop here?"

"I was busy all day today and couldn't eat. Now I am starving. I'm sure you are hungry too after working all day. Let's eat here. My treat," I said with a smile.

She agreed, and we entered the restaurant, finding a seat by the window.

A waitress came to take our order.

I ordered some Thai food and a cup of coffee, while she ordered a bowl of medium-spicy ramen and an orange juice.

We talked about our day, and after a while, our food arrived.

We enjoyed our meal and then headed home.

At her door, she said with a smile, "Thank you, Alexander, for the ride and food."

"My pleasure."

Then she went inside her apartment, and I went into mine.
