Broken Boundaries

GREY CONGLOMERATE TOWER Alexander's eyes blazed with fury as he stormed around his office, his anger boiling over like a volcano. He hurled papers and pens across the room, sending them scattering everywhere. His gaze landed on a vase, and with a swift motion he swept it off the shelf, watching it shatter into a hundred pieces on the floor. The sound of breaking glass seemed to fuel his rage, and he continued to destroy everything in his path. His desk chair followed, flying across the room with a loud crash. Alexander’s breathing was ragged, his chest heaving with each inhale. He was oblivious to everything except the anger coursing through his veins. As he rampaged through his office, the destruction mirrored the turmoil inside him. His mind replayed the scene with Avery—her words cutting deep—and Luna’s humiliation, each memory fueling his fury. He was a force of nature, unstoppable and destructive. The room lay in shambles, but Alexander didn’t notice. He was too consumed by his emotions, too lost in his anger and frustration. The destruction felt like a release, a way to channel what he couldn’t otherwise express. --- LUNA'S APARTMENT Luna sat curled on the edge of her bed, Avery’s words still cutting deep into her heart. She could feel the sting, the cold humiliation washing over her like ice water. Tears threatened to spill, but she blinked them back—she didn’t trust herself to cry in front of anyone just yet. Ruby’s voice was gentle but firm. “Luna, don’t let them win. You can’t hide from what you feel. Alexander isn’t going to fight for you if you don’t fight for yourself.” Luna pressed her face into the pillow, muffling a sob. Fight for myself… but how? Every nerve in her body screamed that she was fragile, that she couldn’t withstand the storm that was Alexander’s world. And yet Ruby’s words ignited a small ember inside her—a fragile, trembling fire that whispered maybe she could. Maybe she had to. Ruby crawled into the bed and hugged Luna tightly. “They’re impossible,” Luna murmured into Ruby’s shoulder, trembling. “I… I don’t even know if I’m strong enough for this.” Ruby pulled back just enough to look at her. “Strong enough? You have to be. You want him, don’t you? Alexander? Then you fight—not just for him, but for yourself. Stop letting them dictate the rules of your heart.” Luna swallowed and nodded, though her mind spun with doubt and fear. Avery’s humiliation had cut deeper than she’d realized, and now she had to steel herself for the inevitable confrontation with Alexander and his family. --- GREY CONGLOMERATE TOWER — ALEXANDER'S OFFICE Harrison stood in Alexander’s office, arms crossed, his expression unreadable. He had been there when Alexander nearly destroyed the room and had watched the office descend into chaos, yet he remained calm. That was the difference between them: Alexander’s temper was a living, breathing thing, while Harrison’s presence was cold, unyielding ice that could either contain it or break it. “Alexander,” Harrison said, his tone cutting through the chaos like a razor, “if Luna continues to distract you like this… I won’t hesitate to remove the inheritance from your hands. You know what that means. You’ll be nothing but a man with power and no empire to back it.” Alexander froze mid-step and turned to glare at Harrison with a mixture of fury and disbelief. “You’d dare threaten me, Harrison?” His voice was low, dangerous, a growl that vibrated with raw intensity. “Do you think I would let anything or anyone interfere between me and her?” Harrison’s eyes narrowed, unwavering. “You’re letting emotion cloud your judgment. This isn’t about her or anyone else; it’s about what’s at stake. If Luna compromises the family, the legacy we’ve built, I won’t blink before cutting the thread that ties this entire empire to you.” Alexander stepped closer, the distance between them charged with unspoken tension. His jaw was tight, his chest rising and falling with rapid, controlled breaths. “And if I refuse?” he asked, voice low, almost a whisper. “If I choose… her?” Harrison’s gaze sharpened, a glint of steel in his eyes. “Then you choose to walk away from everything your family has worked for. And I will make sure you regret it.” The silence that followed was taut and dangerous. Finally Harrison broke it, voice low and controlled. “Decide, Alexander. Her or everything else.” Alexander’s eyes burned with an intensity that made even Harrison shift slightly. “You don’t understand, Dad. She isn’t a distraction—she’s everything. And if anyone thinks they can take that from me… they’re going to learn exactly who I am.” Harrison’s lips pressed into a thin line, a warning barely contained. “Be careful, Alexander. Not all battles are won by brute force. Some will take more than fire and fury to survive.” Alexander stood abruptly, fists still clenched, and took a slow, deliberate step toward Harrison. “I don’t care,” he said, voice low, trembling with restrained power. “I will do whatever it takes. No one will stand between us. Not you. Not my family. Not her enemies.” Harrison leaned back slightly, the faintest smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. “Then we’ll see, Alexander. We’ll see if your heart is strong enough to survive what’s coming.” The room went quiet; the tension between them was a taut wire ready to snap. Outside, the city lights flickered, oblivious to the storm raging inside the office. Both men knew the next move—one word, one act—could tip the scales into destruction or into a power no one had yet imagined. As Alexander stormed out, leaving scattered papers behind him, Harrison’s eyes followed—calculating, cold, and unyielding. Let him try, Harrison thought. Let him risk everything. It will only make the consequences sweeter.
