Thankfully, at the end of the day, we had finally gotten all the work that we needed to be done for the day. We still had much more to do to get ready for the festival. But we were satisfied with what we had accomplished inside just the four hours and thirty minutes we had left. “Great work everyone, we got a lot done all in just four and a half hours” I explained, everyone cheering. “And because of how much you all did today we are now ahead of schedule. So I hope you guys have a great rest of your weekend and I will see you all Monday” I said happily as everyone clapped excitedly before leaving. As they walked out of the classroom and off school grounds. Everyone was talking and laughing happily to one another. Every one of them was excited about the festival. “Hey, Jas you coming,” Sophie asked, holding her bag in hand ready to go. “Oh uh yes just...not yet I have some more paperwork to finish. You go home” I said, smiling slightly. “Yeah okay just don't stay too long and text me when you get home ok,” Sophie said protectively as she smiled encouragingly. “Yeah I will...bye Soph,” I said as she walked out closing the door. Finally relaxing I took a deep breath, sighing as I leaned back in my chair “honestly all I half to do is finish these papers. I really should be getting home to Momma… heh, how in the fricken world is that even possible? Me Student Council President. I’ve never even thought I would talk to anyone let alone be the President of the Student Council Body. I was happy just being able to help out” I said to myself as I leaned further back in the chair looking up at the white-tiled ceiling when suddenly the door clicked open. Quickly I set the legs of the chair back down turning to see the Janitor, Rick White a roughly fifty-year-old man with whitish-gray hair wearing his usual jean blue overalls coming in smiling as he always did. “Oh hello, Miss Jasmine sorry I didn't know anyone else was still here I was just about to lock up,” he said seeing me set my chair back down on all fours smiling back at him “it’s okay I was just finishing up some paperwork since the Student Council voted me the President. So I need to finish all this paperwork for the festival, I can't exactly take all this home” I said softly laughing with a sigh. Giving me a reassuring smile he walked a bit closer “well congratulations. I am sure you will be a wonderful president” he complimented “you think so” I asked nervously. “I do, you are a wonderful and bright young girl.” He complimented nicely “but I’m shy I’ve never even said a word to anyone in the Council until today, heck I haven’t said a word to anyone since elementary” I admitted “what about that Sophie girl you talk to,” he asked “She is the reason I’m in this mess” I laughed. “She clearly believes in you then” he smiled “but I don't believe in myself. How can someone lead if they don't believe in themselves?” “It is not that you don't believe in yourself it’s your fear to believe that you can do it” he answered, “no it's not that I’m just...just way too shy I’m way too weird. No one will listen to me” I doubted “and did anyone say any of this” he asked. “People say it every day to me. I am the weirdest girl. The girl who has not said a word to anyone since elementary. People call me the no voice girl.” I explained “true I’ve heard the rumors I just choose not to believe them,” he said smiling at me. I looked at him confused. “You don't,” I asked surprised. “Of course not you have been talking with me since you started here” he explained “I guess I have” I realized “you sure have so if you honestly were the girl with no voice do you think I would be standing here talking with you right now,” he asked, “yes actually I know you would.” I laughed sweetly “yes possibly! Now I still have some cleaning to do and there are still a few clubs that are outside since all the clubs in the classrooms have packed up for the weekend. So I guess you could stay a little longer but...” he started before I interrupted “don't worry I will be out those doors as soon as I am done with these papers as always...only if that’s ok with you Rick” I asked smiling “alright just don't stay too long and overwork yourself it is not safe for a young girl your age to be walking around the streets by yourself at night” he said sincerely “I won’t stay too long, thank you for the pep-talk I really needed it. I hope you have a great rest of your weekend Rick” I said smiling “I will Miss Jasmine and you are very welcome. Have a good evening” he said smiling his sweet old man smile closing the door behind him. Feeling better I turned back to the paperwork I had in front of me “I can do this” I said to myself as I picked up my phone. “All I need is a little music,” I said certain as I put my headphones in, clicked on the recordings ‘What Should I Do.’ As I sat there working and listening I unconsciously started humming along I started getting used to the new beat and rhythm I had just recently written for it. Liking the way it sounded I started singing along to my almost finished record. “♪You say they were wrong. I say they were right. You started this fight. Now, what should I do? To fight this war. Isn't what I was looking for. But because of you, I'm pulling through...♪” but what I didn't know was that Rick was not entirely correct about the clubs. The clubs outside were surprisingly not the only ones. There were still a few kids roaming the school.
