I woke with familiar arms wrapped around me. Chuckling, I moved to face Maximus, who still slept peacefully. Although he tightened his grip on me when he felt me move. I didn’t mind, as I laid my head on his chest, feeling his heart beating. I felt the bond between us, felt it grow more intense the more I thought about it. Was I making it stronger or was the goddess? I wasn’t sure.
I waited until the sun peaked into our room before I gently woke him.
“Maximus.” I whispered as I nudged him a bit, his eyes fluttered open, and he looked around in a slight panic before his eyes fell on me, then he smiled and settled instantly.
