The store was full of students, many more than I expected. They shopped with friends or chatted and hung out in the center. I was trying to get used to everyone moving out of the way when Maximus and I entered a room or walked down the hall, but it was impossible. One student even tripped as they scrambled, spilling their school supplies all over the floor. I had wanted to stop and help them, but Maximus held me in place beside him, and told me within the bond that I couldn’t. The rules of being his mate seemed endless the more he told me about what I could and couldn’t do.
“You’ll get used to it all in time.” He told me.
“I don’t think I will.” I retaliated as he led me into one of the stores I recognized. It was where I got most of my school supplies just a few weeks earlier.
